Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake receives green light for production
Another dream is becoming reality, as Mercedes-Benz officially announced today that the CLS Shooting Brake Concept, which was unveiled earlier this year at the Beijing Auto Show, will go into serial production. According to Mercedes-Benz, the new car will make its debut on the market in 2012 and will roll-off the assembly line in the Mercedes-Benz Plant Sindelfingen.

Currently, this plant is producing the C-Class Sedan, the E-Class Sedan and Estate, the S-Class and the coupés CLS and CL as well as the Maybach models and Mercedes-Benz Guard vehicles.

How does it have "less" of a Chrysler/Dodge look? It reminded me of the Magnum when I first looked at it. Dont get me wrong, I really like it but Im just sayin'...

I love the front, they just need to redesign the rear lights

Thank you Mercedes for finally bringing back a great car. Not everyone needs or wants something with a short roofline and high center of gravity that is considered sporty (are you listening BMW X6). Wagons, hatches, Shooting Brakes, are all my faves. I'd rather have a wagon that performs with a 6 speed manual than a overweight SUV that can't haul half as much or get near the MPG's.

The first pictures I saw of this were of a "shooting Break". Two doors and a hatch. Now, I have to agree with BlackDynamite that it looks like a refreshed R-class. It is ok... but kind of disappointing though. Does anyone remember seeing the original concept with two doors?? I think it was green in color.

Hope Production model remains close to the concept, it could be the best looking Station wagon. But would it sell? It seems to be form over function and wagons are mostly bought by people looking for function over form. Mercedes own E Estate and R class will give it tough competition not to mention lot of other competitors.

Thanks "Lacman"! That is the car! Too bad it didn't turn into a production vehicle. What can I say... I really liked it.

This thing... albeit a fresh change... just isn't that special. I'll forever think of it as the new R-class. BD... some things you just can't un-read and your comment is golden.
