The Wave Of Change: 001 & The 2011 Chrysler Group In SF
Do you hear that? It's the sound of change.

Although I have been pretty harsh on the domestic automakers in the past 12 to 18 months, and I believe I have a right to considering two of the three took our taxpayer dollars in a "bailout," I must say that it has been nice to see the bucks have been put to use. Good use.

While brands like Ford and General Motors have made progress, Chrysler has been a late bloomer. But, there's a saying that goes like this: "Good things come to those who wait."

Well, we've been waiting now it's time to see if this change is a good one. Unfortunately, we cannot tell you anything about the 2011 Chrysler Group lineup until November 15 BUT we sure as hell can show you all of the pictures we want.

So, Agent001 has been hard at work snapping photos for the Spies. Make sure to take a look down below.

Lets put something into perspective. The worst thing Chrysler has done was jump in bed with Diamler. Diamler got drunk and Chrysler got the hangover. The fact remains that Chrysler with the assistance of Sergio M. has made a remarkable recovery. This gentlemen will be and is already becoming a huge success story. Chrysler sales are through the roof and the majority of the new models haven't even hit the showroom. Kudos to those at Chrysler for ther hard work in turning around Chrysler in such a short time. This in itself is a far greater accomplishment than Ford and especially GM could ever hope for. Again Thank you Sergio and Thank you to all of the Chrysler engineers, and assembly workers for their dedication and hard work.

It looks to me like they're making some lemonade from lemons. The 200, while still needing some work, is a huge improvement over the old one. The Charger and Durango are not only good looking designs but seem to have vastly improved interiors. let's give some credit where it's due here.

Chrystler is going to fold. Not one vehicle they have stands out as best in class. The Chargers front end is barely changed and to a non enthusiasts eyes it is the same car. The rear of course looks better, but id still take a stang or camaro any day. The 200c just looks like 10 different cars had an orgy and thats how it came about. It steals design cues from so many cars to the point its funny. The challanger was decent, but the hype has died and the competition has taken over. Its too heavy and the design is played out and old already. I recently spoke to Mariano Rivera who is a regular at my shop. We built a custom body kit, wheels and supercharger for his SRT8 challenger and even he wants to sell it. He says he got it for looks and performance, but after driving the 2011 Mustang 5.0 hes ready to get rid of it. No comparison he says. The Durango is a huge improvement, but still,it doesnt have anything over the competition. Did Chrystler take a step foward, yes. Was it a big enough step to pass or even catch up to the competition?no. Adding Fiat to this mess is another mistake. Remember what I am saying. The 500 will sell at launch and than fall to its grave. Nothing they are offering would make me pick one of their vehicles over a competitor. It looks like there are a bunch of old men making these cars. Why cant you just see what the competition is offering and offer that plus 1 or 2 more things. Finish it with good looks and you have a winner. I guess at the end of the day its all about budget. Thank god they have Jeep.I had the new Cherokee at my shop 2 weeks ago and I love it. Such a huge improvement over the last one. Every single thing about it feels better. When it comes to trucks id take a jeep over anything in its class. I'm also in love with the new Wrangler.

Its actually pissing me off how lazy they got with the Chargers front end.It looks like the same car. The rear doesnt look like it belongs with that front. It could have been sooooo much better. The Durangos interior looks like shit. I like the Guages, thats about it. The center console looks plain as hell. That nav screen and its surroundings look old. Just from pictures all the plastics look cheap, its probably worse in person. That center console is so plain looking and looks like a shitty aftermarket job. It looks like the nav wasnt suppose to be there and was put in by a shop. My shop does better work.If I had to give any credit I'd say the biggest achievement is in the Durangos looks. The front is decent and the back is nice. It looks like it doesnt have too much leg room .They should have axed the third row, made the truck a little shorter while still having good leg room for the rear passangers and a huge trunk. Or kept the 3rd row,but add length to the truck to improve leg room or figure out a way to improve leg room.To be fair, maybe its just the pic. At least it looks safe!

Ford and GM have "Americana" models but as a niche in their line up. Their other cars are addressing true market needs (practical, alternative fuel technology, handling and performance, quality, etc.). Chrysler continues to offer only 60s and 50s Americana theme (muscle car and more muscle car). The quality, fuel economy, high-technology, etc. aspects that bring in the large revenue is no where to be found in Chrysler line up. Good riddance to them and I'm glad they'll take a pound of flesh from European's weak man Fiat as well. Talk about a marriage of losers.

Do some research - Fiat is not a "loser" in europe.

rxh8me 9000-First of all you are comparing a Dodge Charger a 4dr sedan to a Camaro and Mustang. In reality you should be comparing this car to Fords Taurus and Chevy's Impala. I would compare the interiors, how they drive etc. to those 2 cars. When you you actually drive them then I think a fair comparison is in order. Going on just the looks of the exterior and interior I think the Charger compares quite well to those 2 cars. If it drives anything as well as the preliminary drives down by a few publications Dodge is, I think, has a winner on it's hands. Personally I think it looks way better then a Taurus or Impala. Lets expand this a little further. Lets compare the looks to a Honda Accord or Nissan Maxima or Toyota Avalon. Looks more aggressive then any of them. Further it offers RWD and decently powered V8 for similar money. While I'm figuring that the interior quality may not match some of these cars interior design is certainly on par. I'm not as sure on the 200 and Dodge Avenger. The interiors from the pictures don't look bad. They seem to compare to a Ford Fusion, for example. The last Fusion a drove was their 4 cylinder hybrid. While that car's interior seemed well screwed together there were a lot of cheap plastic facings as well. I don't know but I find myself liking the Dodge Durango. Like the Jeep Grand Cherokee that it is based on the pictures to me show an attractive car inside and out.By the way the US government had virtually no options but Fiat. It was Fiat or liquidation. But I think Fiat will end up helping Chrysler and end up helping Fiat. I think the 500 will cut into the market that Mini has had for 8 yrs. The car is cute and will appeal to women. I don't think that Chrysler going down for the count here. If you guys read the news its sales have dramatically improved and that's before these revised models have even come out yet.I will agree that their quality has lagged. But look who was running them the last 4 years prior to exiting bankruptsy. A financial group that virtually had no interest in anything about Chrysler except trying to find a buyer for it.Prior to that you had a German firm that had no understanding of the American market except for selling very high end products. No I think Chrysler will do OK. Further what recenably priced RWD sedan on the market can you get "new" for under 30 grand today. Only 2 as far as I can see.

The Chrysler 200 is a hideous piece of crap that looks nothing like the concept. How do things like this even make it to production?

Most criticisms are from those that really don't follow the facts. They are always incorrect. They are called "haters". Haters feed off of each other and have no substance. They make me laugh.
