Speaking Her Mind? Superstar Cher Calls Out Hybrids As Bulls**t
Don’t count on seeing superstar Cher, nor her “Burlesque” co-star Stanley Tucci, cruisin’ around in a Prius anytime soon. Unlike many of their Hollywood counterparts, these two aren’t buying into the hybrid-car hoopla.
“I researched all the hybrid stuff and its pretty much all bulls**t,” Cher said when asked about her vehicle preferences. “I was going to get a Mercedes diesel thing, but then thank God I found out there was no diesel places near us, so if there was a fire, I would not be able to get out. There have been 10 fires since I lived in my house in Malibu, and we’ve had to evacuate. It wasn’t safe and if there was a fire, we wouldn’t be able to get out.”

Sensitive chap aren't you?
Anyone who puts a casual pen to a Hybrid will quickly determine that there is little advantage economically to own one.
That is not to say that that the don't generate less pollution when you run it.
The flipside is that even Toyota was surprised by the carbon footprint required to manufacture one and then dispose of it.
All in all IMHO (and many others) it is a lot of effort for little or no gain.

I heard that Cher is going to be implanted with a lithium-ion battery pack during her next plastic surgery.
She's more machine than woman now.

I hate to say that Cher is right because I doubt that she has any idea what she's talking about but ....
Without a substantial increase in energy EFFICIENCY, the financial and environmental costs of transportation by private automobile will not change appreciably.
Gas hybrids and electrics only shift the costs around, not lower them overall.
Yes, a Prius gets better MPG, but the higher upfront purchase and backend disposal costs mostly negate the MPG savings over the life of the vehicle. Net gain = about zero both economically and environmentally.

009 - having to rely on Cher to support your position on hybrid is either i) a sign of desperation on your part and/or ii) epitomize your obvious anti-hybrid sentiment. I'm just puzzled by the hatred. I mean, what's the harm in us having alternative technology to choose from; no one is sticking guns to car buyers forcing them to buy hybrid, or diesel, or petrol is there? Isn't that what free market and consumerism and whatever else that you Republicans keep harping about? I mean so what if hybrid doesn't deliver fully on their eco-friendliness, it's surely no worse than petrol and besides, it satisfies the egos of those people that can afford hybrid (kinda like some people must have leather interior and new technologies to do the same thing that other economical cars have been doing for 50 odd years).

Wrong again, people don't know this, but Cher was one of the principal collaborators on the wheel.

...People are willing to do all they could if they just knew what to do,” she said. “I turn off the lights, we don’t use plastic bags. We’re probably not doing enough, but we started changing the bulbs to those curly bulbs.”

I cannot believe that some people here are defending Hybrids? Only in America.

Every company makes them......so obviously "some" thinks they're a positive step.

yes, and some people think the world is warming, and some thought it was flat as well.
