LA AUTO SHOW: BMW Reinvents The 6 Series, Does It Meet Up To YOUR Expectations?
To many of us the 6 Series embodies power and sex appeal. Maybe not the most practical design, but surely one that turns heads. So how the heck do you follow up on such a magnificent styling exercise?
Do you do a minor face lift like some other automakers? You know, "don't mess with success".
Not if you are BMW, you simply blow everyone's socks of another time by breaking the mold entirely. You can say a lot about BMW, but one thing is for sure they are never timid when it comes to recreating the passion.
Check out the latest BMW 6 Series Sport Coupe and tell us what you think.

Yes, Mclaren428, this car (i.e. the concept) will have a ton of presence of the road; but have you seen the actual production car? They have literately replace what was cool on the concept with plastic materials. Its a real let down and it is disgrace in my book. By changing those elements on the car that speaks luxury in volume, they actually made the car look very dated. As if to say that "this car will be the out going model."

Silverstone, I'm not sure if you're aware of this, but BMW offer other colors for the interior.
I think the interior looks great.

It looks great to me much betta and a huge improvement I liked the way the restyled the BANGLE trunk lid...the 2 tone interior is early 2000 but im not worried about that being standard....but other than that the car is sexy to me and the new screen for the computer is what sets the interior off I think it looks great bu8t they could have chose a solid color interior for the display

Wow....! definitely a step back compare to the last generation BMW 6-Series which I still think is one of the most Beautiful coupe on the road today. This new BMW 6-Series is to boxy and look like every other car out there. The last BMW 6-Series when you see on the street you know it was a BMW 6-Series but this one, I'm not sure.

Good, not great. Needs more greenhouse like the 3.0 cars, seems really ... big. Also what's up with the trunk hinges. Although a small thing that was something that was always well engineered on a BMW that you could easily point out when discussions of cars and engineering where the topic. I know there are a million other things but this obsession with electronics and kinda getting away from basic engineering is giving me doubts about BMW.

Well compared to the "Bangle" tail this is definately an improvement in the sense that it is a more cohesive design. However I would also say that it's kind of a "safe" design. I would have like to see a little more of the "shark look" in the front end and perhaps a little more "greenhouse" from the 635CSI form the 80's. To me that was the best looking 6 series. This one looks Ok but a bit of the 850 type styling which again was only "OK". Frankly while I think it is attractive to a point it is not destinctive enough compared to Jaguar or Aston Martin, or Maserati for example. I think Audi and Mercedes in their coupes at least equal or exceed the styling of this 6 series. They have more of an edge to them. As for the interior the design is fine. I'm not a fan of this particular color combination. I would have liked to have seen a little more "grandsport" in the front end I guess. This is a "goodlooking but safe" design.

The interior materials, and quality look top notch. The exterior looks excellent, which can be said for most of BMW's new models. BMW is on a roll, they have a lot of new exciting products coming out.

This is what a 6 should look like. I wouldn't change a thing. BMW has its mojo back, and this former fan is coming back into the fold.

I disagree, I think its starting to look dated. Especially the interior. The 911, MB CL class, and the 6 have better design IMO. Plus the LEDs on audis are ugly.

You mean the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, DBS and Audi R8 V8/V1, Maserati Gran Turismo and the Lexus LF-A are the most beautiful coupe on the road.

I think you need to say best car in this class, $82k-$78k, for this to make sense.

I've liked every single of the 6-series that has been released in the past and I think all of them look beautiful but for whatever reason, they all look one notch below MB CL series in terms of prestige and presence. I'm sure its handling is tops but I don't think performance is the dominant criteria for the buyers of this car (as opposed to the 3-series buyers for example).

They "de-bangled" the 6-series and I don't like it. The reason the current/soon to be previous 6-Series worked so well because it had style + attitude. It had a presence. The coupe gives me the impression that BMW is really softening up the car to compete against the MB CL.
I guess I have to wait to see if a M6 concept can rekindle the love I had for large BMW GT Coupes.

Concept looks great. Simple but beautiful design same thing as chief rival Mercedes CL(IMO Mercedes should have had same design philisophy for new CLS too). I hope production 6 series is very very close to the concept even the details like exhausts and full front fascia should be as it is on concept. Front overhang should be reduced though.

I am not feeling the rear. The lexus tailpipes and Avalon tail lights are not doing it for me. The rest of the exterior is just bland (as expected). The interior is a 10000000% improvement over the last generation.
