2010 LA AUTO SHOW: New Hyundai Elantra Sends Message To The Entire Compact Car Segment. CHECKMATE!
Even after an exhausting day one, you knew that Agent 001 couldn't have been done just yet. Even after seeing the lovely mermaids from last night, 001 hit the ground running for another big day.
Sure there were plenty of nice cars on the show floor today but one, in particular, stood out from the bunch. That was the 2011 Hyundai Elantra. And that's because it does so much, so well.
Not only is it priced at an unbelievable price of $14,830 BUT it also has more interior volume than a Nissan Maxima and Volkswagen CC, has premium features that are found on more expensive vehicles, and gets 29 city, 40 highway mpg -- which is hybrid-like fuel economy. All of this while costing LESS than a Ford Fiesta!
001 tells me this was the highlight of day two.
Are you still not convinced? Check out the fantastic images Agent 001 shot that detail why the Hyundai Elantra has just changed the game in the compact car class.

They took out a lot of the good options the korean version has. Things such as puddle lamps in the mirrors, hid lamps, parallel park assist, lighted door handles and dashboard lcd screen between tach and speedo. Those are just the obvious things I noticed, there could be more. Will they offer them?

This is obviously a very nice looking car. Hyundai is undeniably on a very positive roll here. Still, I have to ask, "What is it with the Japanese/Korean cars and the wide-mouth-huge-oddly-formed-headlight look?"

Makes us wonder if other brands who have been selling compact cars the last 10 years have overpriced these cars or not. 14,000 for all of these features is a blast.

Wow....! Unreal, Great job Hyundai and keep up the good work. I think it a very good looking car in it class. $14,000 for that feature is an incredible deal. I guess all this other brands has been ripping us off or what by charging more than they suppose too?
I guess nowday we paid more for the badge and prestige. Good job again Hyundai.

No way did It say that it is fully loaded (inc. GPS) for $14,800.
Most likely, "starting from $14,800".

And Fiat 500 just announced based price starts at $16k with steelies, and road worthy at $20k. This is what Steve Jobs means when he said 7" tablets are DOA in the case of Fiat.

I'm sorry, but the Chevy Cruze is going to have its ass handed to itself by this new Hyundai.

Only problem is it's a cheap POS and won't last more than 5 to 7 yrs and start falling apart. It's cheap because of cheap materials that make it disposable. Time will show. The dealers suck too. I was a dealer in the eighties and will never trust them again. You are all being fooled.........

LOL, I drove a corolla for a month, an 2008 corolla, and that car was falling apart. It wasn't a rental car, but heck, it was falling apart more than a 10 year old car.

Decent if you want a cheap car to get from A to B. However, still don't want a Hyundai, no matter how cheap it is, would prefer quality and pay more.

I owned 09 Hyundai Sonata Limited V6. Took extended road test in 2011 Sonata Limited. Woke up, purchased 2011 BMW 328I; now I have a CAR.

You just admitted to cross-shopping the 2011 Sonata Limited with the 2011 BMW 328i.
Just sayin'.

my only question is why would you be looking at/cross shopping a hyundai sonata with a BMW? Thats like trying to decide between a chevy traverse and a Mercedes GL.
