Mercedes-AMG Buying Superbike Manufacturer Ducati?

The recent marketing tie-up between Mercedes-AMG and Italian superbike manufacturer Ducati could result in AMG-badged two-wheelers and even a full-blown takeover of the motorcycle maker, according to inside sources.

AMG is, however, unlikely to make any move for a couple of years, while the tie-up “takes its first baby steps”, according to one senior source.

Officially, AMG and Ducati will only say that they are “currently examining further activities and strategic steps they might undertake together in the near future”.

Could this possibly hint at future lightweight amg models? Or does it spell heavy weight ducati's?

I like the idea. Technology sharing between two manufactures of high output engines.

Say no Ducati! I know you're receiving some bad press over your fuel tanks, but if you sell-out, you're done.

If AMG can have Ducati finally making something other than an L-twin I would perhaps consider it. Until then, I'll stick with the inline engined-sportbikes, thanks.

I think it's a different route for Mercedes most definitely. I think it's another direction they can take. They have every sector covered almost. Trucks, commercial vehicles, economy spec vehicles, luxury vehicles, high end super cars, and potentially super bikes.. great portfolio.
