GM waiting for EPA labels to start shipping the 2011 Chevrolet Volt
As soon as the EPA issues a mileage label for the Volt plug-in hybrid sedans, Chevrolet will begin shipping the vehicle to dealers, according to Tom Stephens, General Motors Co.'s global product chief. Stephens said that EPA’s label for the Volt is expected to arrive “any day.” The label is required for the car to go on sale.

Production of the Volt at GM's Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant has started since early this month. Stephens spoke to reporters at an event celebrating the Volt's being named Motor Trend magazine's 2011 Car of the Year.
