Hyundai Says Genesis Sales Are Still Strong

Hyundai Says Genesis Sales Are Still Strong

After two years on the market, most vehicles start to lose their luster. But Hyundai Motor America says the positive glow from the launch of the Genesis sedan and coupe still burns bright.

The near-luxury Genesis sedan brought kudos to Hyundai, winning the coveted North American Car of the Year honor and other awards in 2009. And the more performance-oriented Genesis coupe, which debuted in mid 2009, has won over enthusiasts.

Coupe maybe, sedan no. They are barely moving the sedan.

@Sportsbike80: What you are just seeing is the Bell curve of normal distribution over a time period. Trust me when I say this, that the Hyundai will not be the last anymore, but rather the first.

Love the Gen coupe. I'm surprised its not doing better. It's no wonder the Japanese automakers stopped building sports coupes. Enthusiasts beg for them, but when they come on the market, nobody buys them. Pay up or shut up.

Of course the Genesis coupe and saloon would still be strong, because they are great cars with great execution to details; and they have great competitive prices.

@BlackDynamite: Point taken, and very much so true, but I will say this that after branding themselves with product differentiation, I do see a take off in the near future. It is just a matter of looking at the fruit of history, which shows that through strategy that an automotive firm can become number one. Is this not the same thing we said about Toyota and then Lexus and so on. They're doing something design wise that no other car company is really doing, they are breaking the religious mold of the car industry. And eventually will become a threat to Toyota and so on.
