Ch-Ch-Ch-Changes! 2011 Acura TSX Gets Refresh, You Dig It?
If there is one subject that has been beaten to death by every automotive publication, it is the whole Acura debacle that's been ongoing for the past 12 months or so. Oh-kay, we got it. They remade their grill and it has a controversial appearance.
We deemed it "the beak."
But for 2011, the Acura TSX looks to be stepping away from its in-your-face appearance just a little bit. While the pre-refresh TSX had a chunky and aggressive look to it, the 2011 cleans up the grill and removes some of the blocky hardware from its face.
With that said,
the Agents want to know if this is a big improvement OR if these small changes don't make a difference.
**NOTE: the upgraded 2011 grill is on the SILVER car while the 2010 grill is seen on the BLACK car

TSX looks fine. The looks of the TSX are not at issue because the car, rebadged European Accord, sales fine for the number of cars that are imported into the US market for sales.
Where Acura sales are hurting are for the TL. The TL, based on the US Accord, was where Acura needs to drastically improve sales. Not including the Integra/RSX models, the TL was Acura highest selling model.

The 2012 is coming out in March with the same grill you see here. We think they are also eliminating the brushed aluminum trim on the trunk as well.

I really like it, it look really good. Why can't Honda/Acura spend more time refining the current TL? I mean the last TL look mile better than the current one. Honda/Acura better hurry up and get their act together before Kia/Hyundai surpass them.

Sure the old grille looked funny, but I liked it. It gave the car a rather eagle-eyed look.

You guys are going to have a field day with the deboost button with this one! lol
I honestly think the TSX looked better before! It looks too weak now. I like the bold look better.

I applaud the boldness of the old design but, for me, it just didn't work. Oddly enough, my first reaction to this improved look was, "It's become generic." I think Acura needs a distinctive and beautiful design language of the sort they found in the original Legend Coupe.

I actually kinda like the new grille, but i dont like hte kinda awkward space between the side of it and the lights, just kinda bothers me, cuz it doesnt look like that grille is made for that car.
why not the accord euro grille? http://cdn.cbsi.com.au/story_media/339290083/accord-euro_1.jpg
looks agressive, bold and its not controversial, also fills the gap between headlights.

Looks very nice and stylish. It has very sharp and slim look unlike most rivals which look bloated. Also good to see Honda revised the grille which looks much better now.

I agree with kuvakas1, the TSX swung from controversial to generic - Acura needs something bold, yet beautiful...

the buck-tooth look never offended me, but this looks cleaner. Acura is such a good product, it's too bad they tried too hard to look distinctive and it back-fired.
The previous TL sold in droves. They should have practiced more evolution rather than revolution.

the beak was never a huge issue on the TSX, as it was still a relatively toned down version. Glad they are finally getting it that the beak is ugly, but they should focus their efforts on the other models

Still not a fan of any Acura nowadays...
It's not the beck issue at all, its that huge chrome pointy badge that ruins the look of the front imo!

Hondas weak spot is there auto trannys, is there any reason other than that that you think they are trash?

I own a Honda, and I am a Honda fan, but a fact is a fact,
"the truth is not a democracy" They are not horrible trannys, but they are also not the best, that is probably why they can't tow much? A Honda service manager told me this fact, and I have also heard it from other sources, Consumer Reports would never dare state the truth on this. With this out there maybe Honda will improve there auto trannys?

I see people towing with Honda Civics, ie taking garbage to the dump, buying furniture...and I agree with you that nobody would buy a Honda for towing, but the point is that the auto trannys are not as strong as they should be.

Acuras have also had tranny problems, Any mechanics here? Or are both the badges just weak?

The TSX 4 cylinder puts out about 210hp. So did the 2 door MUCH lighter Acura RSX Type S. Where is the TSX Type S or the turbo technology to help this car be a competitor? I enjoy the 4 cylinder workings, just give it more power and keep the 6 speed manual option.

Yeah 280hp with a nose-heavy V6 that does not outperform the 4 by all that much due to the weight increase. Not to mention the mpg's suffer as well.
Again, totally my opinion, but I would have liked to have seen something with a little more oomph in the 4 (turbo, S/C that is a common update for past TSX's).
