RENDERED SPECULATION: Would You Want The Next-Gen Porsche 911 To Look Like This?

RENDERED SPECULATION: Would You Want The Next-Gen Porsche 911 To Look Like This?
Photoshop'ing is one of those arts that you just have to stand back and observe. To be able to make a clear image isn't as easy as one would think. And when it comes to objects with very fine details, like a car, it is even more difficult.

Except for guys like Wild-Speed over at Teamspeed. Long story short, this guy came up with a interesting look at his take on the next-generation 911.

With that said, do you think that Wild-Speed is onto something or is he off base?

Took another shot at the new 991, again based on the latest spyshots. I guess that Porsche will use some influences from the 918, very 918ish looking lights, and with this new (hump)spoiler(which also remind me of 918)this seems kind of logical.

I believe this could be Porsche's new design language as the upcoming Boxster model will also have that sort of spoiler on the back...

I think the next 911 will look quite similar to that Photoshop. It's a typical 911 redesign; enough to make it more contemporary while modernising it but not so much that it throws the familiar 911 design out the window.

Lazy....Ferrari can create a brand new model with each new generation with new techonology, a new styling direction without giving up the slightest bit of its heritage. While Porsche can do no more than giving their cars what looks like a slight front and rear end redo, thats not talent. They could keep the same basic profile/shape of the 911 without making it look nearly identical to the last one. The irony is maybe if their sports cars didnt look the same generation after generation than they would be selling better instead of only the cars that are "all new."

I think Porsche has done a great job of maintaining it's identity while keeping the design "modern" as stated above. No one had a problem differentiating between a Porsche form the 70's and a current one but they are undeniably Porsches while, from time to time, you will hear comments like, "Is that the new Ferrari?" With Porsche, the main emphasis has always been on the driving experience, not the design of the car. They've manages, IMO, to give us the best of both.

Its going to look perfect. The next 911 will be an evolution and if you look back in history the 911 is probably one of the few cars that has lasted as a model for many generations - its quite an accomplishment.

So a 2003 vw beetle (not new beetle), which had very very slowly "evolved" over its 65 year life span is quite an accomplishment too?

It it's own way, yes it is. Thee is something to be said for a design that endures and works well (911, Beetle, early XKE, etc) as opposed to one that just hangs around (Checker, AMC Hornet in all of it's permutations over its lifespan, Chryslers endless iterations of the K cars). The 911 has managed to remain relevant and fresh without getting old, IMO. I think the original Beetle did the same thing.

Reminiscent of the ol' 928 from the back. Looks good, but too retro.

Always liked the 911. I was selling them in 1985. Timeless.....

Don't get me started on Porsche's designs... -_- How hard is it to make the the 911 look slightly close to the 918 concept ( which is the only good looking Porsche since the first alliteration of the 911 came out about 50 years ago).

Actually I'm waiting for the new Cayman to come out. I'm hoping in vain it will take on cues to the 60's and beautiful 904 to differentiate it from the 911 and Boxster. The photo shop looks to be spot on based on the spy shots I've already seen showing the car undisguised.
