SPIED: Is This The Hyundai That Will Take Down Honda?
Now at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show, the 2011 Hyundai Elantra took the cake. Not only does it outshine every car in the compact class, the car turned out handsome looking. So, what's there not to like?

By the way, if you haven't been following, Hyundai's been kicking some serious ass for the past two years. It's time to tune in if you haven't been watching the show already. With that said, Honda launched its arguably disappointing Honda CR-Z. While it is suppose to be a two-door hybrid with a manual that emphasizes sportiness, it doesn't do either thing particularly well on paper.

Considering the 2011 Elantra probably gets similar mpg in real-world testing, 00R is pretty sure that the CR-Z should be a bit scared of the Veloster coupe. But time will tell.

With that said, could the sporty Veloster be the Hyundai that chips away at Honda's CR-Z?

Hyundai's innovative Veloster coupé has been caught in testing ahead of its debut at January's Detroit motor show.

The compact 2+2 has been designed as a direct rival to the VW Scirocco but is expected be several thousands of pounds cheaper. The new Coupé looks short, with quite a long and flat-looking rear deck, but is otherwise a close match for the 2007 Veloster concept...

Take down Honda? Honda hasn't been doing anything great lately, although they are ahead of most other vehicles because of there high safety standards, this Hyundai will be a competitor once it matches there safety standards, I haven't checked on how they compare, anyone know? The engine sounds very good and I love hatch backs over the other for practical reasons.

Wow!

Look at the detailing on that steering wheel alone - thumb rests, leather wrap, controls...wow.

Also, I spy a 6-speed manual, something that neither the current Elantra doesn't have, but which the top-line Forte does have.

I only hope 2 things: 1) that the final product doesn't look like yet another Honda Civic cars for sale knockoff (that design's on its way out, which I think is worth noting) and 2) that Hyundai didn't put its characteristic & cheap looking squiggle down the side.

What "squiggle"?

Yea, quack, quack, quack...Instead of bellyaching over whether Hyundai's designs look like Honda's, for once, just once, I'd like to see Honda design and launch a great looking car.
