Obama Administration Gobbles Up Almost One Quarter Of Domestic Hybrids Produced
President Barack Obama’s administration has bought almost a fourth of the Ford Motor Co. and General Motors Co. hybrid vehicles sold since he took office, accelerating federal purchases as consumer demand wanes.

The U.S. General Services Administration, which runs the government fleet, bought at least 14,584 hybrid vehicles in the past two fiscal years, or about 10 percent of 145,473 vehicles the agency purchased in that period, according to sales data obtained by Bloomberg under a Freedom of Information Act request. In fiscal 2008, hybrids accounted for less than 1 percent of government purchases, the data showed.

Could you please post a link that shows where the Obama Administration purchased almost 25% of hybrids produced?." The article states the US GSA purchased 145,473 vehicles of which 10 percent were hybrids. Ten percent if you round it up or down is closer to 5% than 25%. So it would be more accurate to say "The Obama Administration Gobbles Up 5% of the 145,473 vehicles they purchased with domestic hybrid models".

Federal Acquisition rules ensure the tax payer is ripped-off, so I'm sure GSA negotiated the price up in the name of warranty, like all the lousy computers they buy from Dell.

If the gov't have a need to buy cars, and they can get hybrid at a discounted price, power to them. What's the harm of having some hybrid in their fleet?
