How Many Of You Made It Back For Episode 2 Of Top Gear USA And Was It As Unbearable As The First?
Last week the Top Gear USA premiere hit the airwaves and received reviews from awful, ho-hum, not as good as the Brit version to ONE review that we could find that was very positive...Oh, that was a blog that was loaded with Top Gear USA ads on the site! Not kidding!
So we thought we'd circle back to see if you watched episode 2 or if they lost you for good after the first one?
And if you did watch, was it any better than the first one?
Spies, discuss....

It never seems to amaze me but Americanised version of a foreign original just can't hit the mark. From movies like "3 Men and a baby", "Day of the Jackal" to "The Italian Job" to TV shows. The same challenge appears here as well.

I'm getting the flow after watching the second episode. Their characters are starting to build up, and given time, I'm sure this will be a fun supplement for the many months when Top Gear UK is off the air.
If I want to brag about Top Gear UK, I can show others virtually any episode season 4 and beyond. Anything before that requires a little nit-picking, especially if my audience does not consist of petrolheads.

I don't get why there is all the hate out for this program. If the original top gear never existed then many opinions of the program would be radically different. As far as I see it they tried very hard to emulate the original program, and because they tried so hard, people actively try to point out differences (i.e. oh the lighting is all americanized etc). Now I ask, since when were differences bad? It's not like the original top gear is in itself was perfection.

It would still be terrible if America was to own TG. I mean I hardly watch tv anymore with all the garbage/commercials out there.

@Joe That is just the problem. Why copy the originals recipe? Is it not the same cast? TGUSA needs to set itself apart from the UK version and be a new TG or better yet a rival. Do something different to hook in new viewers from the UK show.
@veyron It's American so even if it was 10x better than the original you would hate so therefore your comment is void of any value.

Still not very good, but still better than nothing. The production values are high compared to other available car shows in the US. If I wasn't aware of TGUK, I might like it a bit more. Once you've seen the original, it's obvious that even the "challenges" are poor repeats. There still isn't any real chemistry between the hosts. The interview was better, but then anything would have been.

Yea when they showed what was going to happen over the next few weeks, I saw atleast 4 challenges they copied including the one in the first episode.

It's too early to tell. Give it a season or so. Even the original still has hiccups even today.

Let's hope the shows improve, was not impressed with the first show and skipped the second on my DVR last night for another time when I am bored enough to watch... I think the problem is the hosts and the content, so basically the whole show.

The second show was leaps and bounds ahead of the first show, but that is not saying much given how terrible the first episode was. There was a few moments of cohesion and casual banter amongst the host, but it quickly got lost during the majority of the show where there really is no cohesion. It's almost like everything that is being said is scripted instead of the off the cuff approach the original show has with Jeremy Clarkson.
The great thing about the original is that is appears as though Jeremy Clarkson and crew have known each other forever, and draw upon that relationship in the show to make it was it is. The guys on the new show just don't have the chemistry to make it truly entertaining.
I bounced back and forth between Top Gear and SNF, neither was great but both were better than nothing.

Slightly better then the 1st show. I little more banter and cohesion.Faust is still lacking a little passion in his delivery. The other 2 are starting to warm up a bit. Again my issue is that it is following the same format as the British show. Why should he be called "Stig". Why not call him "Stealth" or "Driver Man" or somthing.
It almost seems like the format is on "auotpilot". Again it needs time to simmer and the hosts need to develop their own personality. All and all a slight improvement over the 1st one.

I want to see them take the biggest piece of crap car the U.S. makes, and review it, just like Clarkson, and tear it apart. And prove that they're not some dog and pony show being controlled by big corporations.
Then, and only then, will I begin to have any respect for this version. They can start by reviewing the Chrysler 200C. I would piss myself laughing if these guys put American Automakers on notice. They'd be the first in the U.S. to do it. But, we all know that'll never happen.

I watched it. It was okay... the guest drivers are lame though. I mean Buzz Aldrin...really? It's fun, just not funny.

3 Guys with Limited Personality...The People that put this show together have missed the main thing that makes TopGear UK so great...
Clarkson, Capt.Slow and the Hamster...
Couldn't one of them drop in once and a while? Like every episode?
