Onboard Internet will soon be offered as regular option, auto experts say
Onboard Internet will soon be a regular option in cars as the technology is expected to make a breakthrough in the masses within the next few years, according to a group of experts who attended a meeting at the Automobilwoche Congress in Berlin. Ulrich Kurth, an automotive specialist at T-Systems told the Congress that on-board Internet can happen in two to three years as it “goes hand-in hand with the continued, rapid development of car-to car communication.”

Bad move in my opinion. It is just another distraction to driver inattention. It will be great when cars drive themselves but not if you have to be at the wheel.

No way Apple will own telematics. The auto makers will each have their own proprietary flavor and will charge a monthly fee for access. This is about revenue, not entertainment.
