Back From The Dead: Chrysler Plans To Resurrect Viper For 2013
Chrysler Group LLC plans to bring the iconic Dodge Viper back to its lineup in the summer of 2012.
The all-new Viper will be a 2013 model.
The Auburn Hills automaker ceased production of the all-American sports car last summer after 18 years.
There has been speculation since then that the hiatus would be short-lived and Chrysler would bring the car back.

Or how about a V10 that is a HEMI?

The V10 will stay as I believe it should. If anything the V10 cylinder head should evolve into a 4 valve [pentroof] DOHC design. This keeps the powerplant in the exotic catagory. After all this is Dodges Halo car and it should showcase technology. I believe the Hemi 5.7 and 6.4 are the work horse V8's for the higher volumn vehicles. And we don't want the critics to say Dodge just put another truck motor in the Viper.

You know the HEMI engine influence a lot of other engines due to it high compression rate created by the hemispherical headers in which now Porsche has incorporated for quite some while to get maximal displacement within a small area. So don't think the HEMI as an antiquated engine, because its not.

edeus123. Please don't miss-understand my comment. I totally understand what a hemi is and have full respect. I own a 426 and it is definately a handfull. And I love it. I just believe the V10 even though it shares nothing with the truck V10 [which I also have] is what made the Viper unique. So to put Hemi heads on the V10 is good, to go with four valves per chaimber is more efficent but the hemisphereical combustion chaimber would be to complicated for valve alignment. This is where the pentroof design comes from. By the way they are considering making a V8 Hemi Viper.

The Hemi isn't a true hemi design. It's a marketing scheme to excite existing mopar fans and to draw new ones. They do sound great though.

Chrysler is certainly impressing me with their new designs. Once the crapiest interiors are now impressive for an American car. I like the new Cherokee

Yes-I have to admit I'm more excited about what is going on at Chrysler then I am at GM and Ford. Maybe because the've been the underdog for so long. Further I feel that Chrysler was a company that was simply abused by Daimler and later Cerberus. Now it's finally being given the chance it deserves.Certainly what the've done to the Charger, the 200 and Avenger should be appauded. In fact it turns out that all the suspension improvements where originally slated for the Sebring/Avenger but were disallowed by Daimler.Hail Fiat!

mini22.. This is what I was trying to explain on this site several years ago when everyong jumped on the bandwagon to beat up Chrysler. And I still stand by my word that if Chrysler had never merged with Diamler they would have been better off and very possibly survived without bankruptcy. I enjoyed your comment.

You know a while back I read an article by Lee Iacoca and he was discussing the same key elements in which Mini22 and Bfghemicuda are discussing about. For a lack of better words, he basically said that the Diamler corporation acted as a leach.

bfghemicuda and edeus123-The only good thing to come out of the merger with Daimler was the e class platform for which the 300,Charger and Challenger was built on. Other then that Daimler did absolutely NOTHING good for Chrysler. In fact when Daimler decided to throw in the towel and sell to Cerebus I believe it was based on keeping Magna from getting a direct foothold into the retail side of the auto industry. For Cerberus,Chrysler was nothing more then a holding house investment that they could pawn off and make a quick buck. Hiring a CEO like Bob Nardelli, who damaged Home Depot, was clearly temporary move. I'm actually surprised that Cerberus had not considered selling off Chrysler piece meal from the get go.Further, I'm just not sure why Daimler would want to destroy Chrysler, however. I'm guessing that they had enough of their own problems with quality control on their own models and needed cash to stay afloat. It appears, however, that Chrysler finally has the right stewardship in Sergio Marchionne. In fact it is my belief that Chrysler will ultimately help Fiat by offering larger platforms for Fiat to take advantage of and sharing of the C Evo platform to spread production costs. Fiat has not been able to break out of the "small" car mold as far as sales are concerned. It will be interesting to see if they keep Alfa Romeo.
