California and Florida GM SUV customers to get special treatment over other Americans?

GM is launching a program in California and Florida tomorrow that will guarantee gas prices of no more than $1.99 per gallon to customers in those states who buy certain SUV's and trucks.

Customers will get a pre-paid card that will pay the overage between tomorrow and the end of 2007.

On average, that will save those customers around $1000.

And this program is being offered on top of any other existing rebates, not in lieu of them.

Toyota is not a progressive auto manufacture. There marketing is. Please do some better research before spouting off a bunch nonsense you heard from the left wing web sites.
Facts: Toyotas Prius does not get as good as gas mileage as they say. 15 to 25 percent less. Plus what will Toyota do with all those batteries? There may be only one non hybrid car from Toyota that gets better gas mileage than all the GM cars plus GM has several cars that get better gas mileage than Toyota. And did you know? Some of GM and Toyota cars where designed together? Burning fossil fuels is not even as close to as bad as the nuts say it is. Of course we should try are very best to keep it all under control but how much carbon dioxide and other gasses is the Volcano in Africa spewing out right now? Tons and Tons and Tons. Please, Please do more research.

No car gets what the window sticker posts. Those tests are ran by the Gov't in a controlled environment, no wind resistance, no grade, at approx 55mphs. They change their testing in 2008 to more "real world" driving conditions.

GM's deal will fail. It is only a "fix it today" approach to something that will extend far beyond the next year. Pointless. Focus on getting off fossil fuels.

Steve..... Those batteries in the Hybrids are Benign. On the top of each battery cell with Toyota batteries, there are instructions on how and where to recycle them, plus a $150 incentive to those that actually send them in. Furthermore, there are local companies in every major city, and even some rural, that recycle those batteries.

Also, there are many more cars from Toyota that get better gas mileage than GM, as they offer many more cars then GM does. Lastly, the company that you refer to is N.U.M.M.C. New United Motor Manufacturing Corp. It is based in Sac, CA and it's a group that designs cars and platforms for GM and Toyota. The company was created by GM and Toyota to mutually benefit each other.
