Holy Crap! 2011 Nissan GT-R Tested And Does 0-60 In 3 Seconds FLAT!
A Japanese magazine, totally unaware of your beer habit but aware of your necessity to spout out benchmark acceleration times has tested the GT-R from 0-62mph.
And Godzilla did it in... three seconds. THREE. Half a second faster than the outgoing GT-R, and crucially, 0.3 seconds quicker than a Porsche Turbo S.

The Nürburgring has always been a major part of Nissan's GT-R marketing, why don't they attend the 24H of the ring with an almost stock car to show the world what a great and reliable machine the GT-R is?? it would be sooo simple. pls don't tell me that they're too busy getting raped in GT1, it's just a single race and not a championship, this can't be a reason. Toyota did this with their preproduction LF-A and their marketing is far less focussed on the ring.

I don't get what the fuss is about. We know the GT-R is a stupid-fast car. Furthermore, we know that when a manufacturer sets out to outperform a certain model, it's probably not all that hard to do--after all, what tuners do to cars, the manufacturer's could very easily do. However, they don't. They know that the cost would be a factor, plus, tuning a car for a certain type of performance characteristic can have a negative effect on other aspects of the car's character. As I've said many times, how fast you make a car is largely a marketing decision.
To me, the most important question is whether Nissan makes any money on the GT-R. I suspect, as another poster on another forum stated, that the GT-R is manufactured and sold at a loss. It is purely a statement car by a manufacturer who's got no ceiling on what they can do (such as the Lamborghini ceiling imposed on the R8 or the 911 ceiling on the Cayman).
If someone can tell me that Nissan rakes in the dough selling the GT-R at $85K, then I'll really be impressed (and it's nothing against the GT-R, rather that the horsepower/0-60/Nurburgring wars really don't impress me).

Why should Nissan's profit margin on this or any other car matter? If anything, it speaks for the company's passion to produce such a car strictly so that it will be available to enthusiasts.

well said 222. just to piss you off more AlleVier, Audi tried to outperform the 911 with the R8 V10 and it failed miserably. That's what car companies do to remain the best (in this case, the fastest in their class). Also, it's not that Nissan is losing money, it's that now it can be said that Porsche has been overcharging their clients. and now they keep overcharging without offering the best performance available.

Once again, no 911 turbo S can run 0-62 mph in 2.7 seconds flat. Also remember, C and D's 0-60 times are calculated using a one foot rollout on a dragstrip. It's always a few tenths quicker than times obtained more reputable publications.

dh: uh, yes it can. they're quoting the 911 turbo S manufacturer's claim of 3.3 seconds. it runs sub-3s all the time. no surprise, as all the german manufacturers are notorious for their conservative performance claims.

I told you guys and gals that the 2012 Nissan GT-R will hit 0-60 in 3s or lower. Since this 0-62 in 3.0s so the 0-60 time should be 2.0s. Where is Blackdynamite? ah ha...ha...ha..
This is UNFreakin Real, I mean a car that is $90k doing 0-60 in 2.8 to 3.0s and destroy pretty anything that stand in it way, is just Absolute Madness.
I want one and I want it now in Pearl White. Good job and Congratulation Nissan. Keep up the good work. Lexus and Honda hope your company is taking note from Nissan Success.

@SportyTurbo,
As Dhkss2002 stated above that C and D calculated the 0-60 time with one foot roll out which give the car about 0.2 to 0.3 second quicker than actual time.

how much does the Porsche 911 Turbo and 911 Turbo S cost? And now with the new 2011 Nissan GT-R it even meaner, badder, faster and scarier than before. A lot people are piss because the Nissan GT-R join the party and pretty much destroy "Almost" everything in way for a fraction of the cost.

If this was an Audi R8 V10 or Porsche 911 or some other German brands all the badge whore will said how it is the "Greatest thing since the invention of bread" but since it a Nissan GT-R, oh it not good enough, BS.
If you're a true sport car lover, you will love and admire a car performance no matter who make them. I love you all kind of sport cars include one from Europe, America and Asia as well. As long as it fast, powerful, has great handling and performance for a affordable price, I am in.

The 911 Turbo S does in 2.7s? Yeah right, where do you get infor Wiki? C and D get that time with one foot rollout which will cut the 0-60 by 0.3 to 0.4 second of it actual time. You sound like you so Freaking man, if Not why are you cursing?
If you don't care, go read another post. And according to how many comments we had so far, obviously we real sport cars lover care. Where can you a sport car for under $100k and do 0-60 in 2.8 to 3.0s? And pretty much is the fastest or second fastest on the Nurburgring track?
How much does a Porsche 911 Turbo S cost? I totally understand that you're piss because it NOT a German car instead it was a Asian car.

As a HUGE Porsche fan, i dont know why would someone be upset about another car being faster ? it is what it is, thats how i see it, the gtr is faster, end of story. if i had the means, i would still get a 911 turbo..
i also dont think this car gets cross shopped with the turbo, maybe just a base 911, zo6 and m3.

Like I said before I like all cars from all sport car as long as it has a lot of horse power, great handling, performance, reliable and affordable. I love Porsche for it Great handling and how they dominant the sport car segment for so long. But between 911 Turbo and GT-R I will take the Nissan GT-R because it will match my personality more.
It a matter of personal choice and preference. I will be happy with either one. I think the Porsche fans and all the others sport car lover should be thankful that Nissan make this Nissan GT-R perform so well. Because now it force the other sport car company to make faster and better handling car. We the customers will when cars company compete for our money.

@iamdabest1,
You don't think this Nissan GT-R compete with the Porsche 911 Turbo and 911 Turbo S, Yeah right. Off course it compete with the Porsche 911 Turbo and Turbo S in performance level and it beat of them. We have the "Best" if not one of the best car from Europe verse the "Best" car from Asia competing against each other in performance level.
I love Porsche for it pure performance and how well it is doing for so long but to me and a lot of people would agree with me that Porsche is Way Over Price just like Audi.
