The rear look very similar to the Lexus GS/RX and the G-35 infiniti. It goes to show that all auto company copy or borrow idea or design from each other and try make it their own. It all good, it not that attractive to look at anyway, in other no it has no soul, LOL:) The Lexus GS look way better than that for sure.

True, although Toyota/Lexus have copy the bangle butt. But Toyota and Lexus has sold more car than German auto company is because their car are more realiable, and have less mechanic problem than German car. As far as performancer wise sure Toyota /Lexus is not on the side as the M3,M5, and the M6 or the MB AMG. But they are on their way their, look at the new Lexus IS350 it beat 3 series both in horse power and the 0-60. And look at the 335i try to play catch up game with the Lexus IS 350 by coming out the 335i with 300 hp of their own. Lexus and other Japanese Supercar are coming out within the next year or two so just wait. For example, Honda NSX with 500+ hp, Nissan Skyline GT-R 450-500+ hp, Lexus IS 450/500 GT with 450+ hp, Lexus LF-A with 500+ hp and off course the Legend the one and only Toyota Supra with 450+ horse power. It won't be long before Japanese
supercars get recognized as one of the Top Dog in the Supercars segment. By that time everyone will be talking about Honda NSX, Nissan Skyline, IS 450/500 GT, LF-A 500/GT, and the Toyota Supra GT.

Lexus u r right. And these monsters intro is very near now.EVO,Skyline GT-R,LF-A,IS-R is debuting early to mid next year.

Sadaine,i think THe Rear of this 5 series looks like the FRONT of the new INFINITI G35 Sedan.
Yeah,u listened right.

Also i can see a lotof GS styling.
The lexus GS design is beutifull, that Even there are rumours that even the next E will take some styling cues from THE GS.

U have already seen Mazda MX-9 taking the whole of GS's front and Rear styling cues, and with that styling, how great it's looking.Better than any crossover.

From the above pic i can only give my verdict that BMW is running out of ideas.Design ideas.

The last generation of there cars PLUS look at the new 3 Series Coupe, this 5 series pic, maybe u all have also seen the new 7 series photoshop, the upcoming X5.......Really BMW is running out of DESIGN ideas.
Especially rear....yuck extremely ugly, bland and boring

First, I'll tell you guys/gals why Japanese auto fans have issues with BMW. Because at one time or another they've gotten their a** kicked all over the road by a BMW. That's why they have issues. Now to the current blog at hand. What are you people smoking? Are you looking at the same picture that I'm looking at. The rear looks noting like a Lexus or Infiniti. It looks like the current M5 rear. Sure Lexus sales a few more cars than BMW here in the States, but BMW sales a lot more cars WORLD WIDE. Hence, the #1 Luxury car maker in the WORLD!! Now to the so called Top Dog future Japanese performance cars. So what Lexus, Infiniti, and Acura are each introducing ONE performance car. The Germans have rows and rows of performance cars. So tell me how in the hell are the Japanese going to take down the Germans in performance? Hell, if they where any good at performance and engineering they wouldn't be in Europe testing these so call performance cars now would they? Do you see the Germans testing in Japan, I don't think so? I'll let you in on a little secret. They have to be in Europe so they can steal the next GERMAN performance package. Otherwise they would really be getting their a** kicked. And one other thing, I own a 2001 BMW 325ci w/European spec. I have raced a number of G35, Lexus IS, and Acura TL and none of those weak bastards can keep up with me on the road. I'm trying to find a Lexus IS350 to beat down next. But when ever I approach one on the express way they don't wanna get down, with that little plastic Lexus IS350 heart. Lexus, Infiniti, and Acura are all BMW wanna be's. Hence, they will never become the #1 luxury car maker in the WORLD. All three Japanese Auto companies are followers not leaders.

I'll agree that the 330i is better in the slalom than the IS 350, but not by that much. Total road feel is something different than actual handling abilities. However, braking on the IS 350 is equal with the 330i.

From CarandDriver:

"Lexus wants to run down BMW; that much is clear. The huge horsepower is just one part of the story. Lexus has also poured sweat into the steering and suspension, trying to replicate the Munich magic. They come tantalizingly close. The appetite for curves is bigger than in any Toyota product we have ever tried, the stopping power mighty — 167 feet from 70 mph — surpassing the other cars both in immediacy and effectiveness.

And yet the IS350 doesn't become an extension of your legs and forearms, as the BMW or even the G35 does."

This sums the IS 350 very well.

Also, from Road and Track:

"The brake pedal is firm, and even after lapping Willow Springs International Raceway on a 108-degree afternoon at the car's press introduction, no brake fade was apparent. There's just a reassuringly firm pedal, and the speed-sensitive electric-assist power steering helps improve fuel economy by eliminating any parasitic drag on the engine when the IS is traveling straight."

60mph-0: 128 ft
80mph-0: 222 ft
Control: excellent
Brake feel: very good
Overall brake feel: very good

BMW 330i:

60mph-0: 116 ft
80mph-0: 209 ft
Control: excellent
Brake feel: very good
Overall brake rating: very good

In Road and Track it wins, but, not by much; still, a solid victory.

Motor Trend rated the IS's braking (122 ft) 10 ft more than the 330i's.

I would hardly say that it is an amazing difference. It is pretty whoop-dee-doo.

On another note, the engine in the M3 is an inline. You are way off when you describe how the 330i vs the IS 350. But, who cares, you are just another brick in the wall........

You are an ignorant soul if you think a 325i will beat an IS 350 in a straight line. That is like comparing your 325i to the acceleration of an M3. Yea it makes you look like a dork when reality strikes back!

Lexus and Japanese auto company is taking the supercars category sooner or later. Think about why would of the Japanese auto industry introduce of this great supercars. The like of NSX, XGA, Skyline GT-R, Lexus IS 450/500 GT, Lexus LF-A/GT with 500+ hp and the one and only Toyota Supra with 450+ hp; all of this supercars are coming out mid next year. Because they are planning to take over the supercars segement as well. Sooner or later they will either you like it or not. I will get the Toyota Supra 450 GT with 450+ hp for sure when it come out. You know this beast is going to be in the Low 4 from 0-60 sure; I would guess from 0-60 in 4.0-4.4 seconds.

Lexus for Life

Me or any other true carman just said something negative about the above pic, what they r saying to be the next 5.
What's wrong in it.

Why u r thinking we said something very cruel,unreal...etc about BMW.

Surely Autospies readers and posters act like they r some 15-16 kids, just started to care about cars.

Grow up and talk sensly,maturely

You are being terribly selective about what you want to hear. You are HOPELESS. Why do you feel so insecure and defensive?

why I posted those numbers is because I am not afraid to show the BMW 330i outperforming a car which I prefer more than it. I don't feel like I need to bark at every person I see who prefers something else. Grow some hair on your chest.

BMW is ALREADY coming out with a refreshed or new model. In other words, admitting the current production model is absolutely horrendous looking. Even Hyundais look nicer then the current 5-series.

BMW ... The Ugliest Driving Machine.

Ironically, now the 5-series rear looks like the new Hyundais. BMW is on a roll!!!! (downhill!).

I know that Lexus is a really good car. I know that they are trying very hard to make their supercar punches. But please wait til it comes out because what we are doing here is just imagination about the future cars that do not even make its debut.

I am sure that it will be a very good car. But will it be good enough for the market? I can't tell you that.

Until that time,

Bob, I know Lexus make good car that why are still in the business. I know that they are competing in a very prestigious class in the like of Lambo,Ferrari, Enzo, M serie, and MB AMG. But since they will use Formula 1, I know it going to be very good Supercars, after all why not?

Lexus

Let wait and see
