2011 Honda CR-Z hybrid gets low score from Consumer Reports
After subjecting the Honda CR-Z to several tests, Consumer Reports concluded that the vehicle is reliable but is not recommended due to its long list of drawbacks. The two-seat CR-Z is derived from the Insight, a five-passenger hybrid hatchback that also scored very low on its tests. Consumer Reports said that the CR-Z has received several improvements.

It observed that the interior isn’t obviously cheap and its handling is far better than the Insight’s. It also noted that the CR-Z's manual transmission is crisp and easy to shift and its fuel economy rating of 35 mpg is satisfactory.

No need to go back to the drawing board but I have some ideas:

I can understand why they feel it is sporty, the car is a two-door, manual optioned hybrid. Something previously unavailable in hybrids in any combination. So if you are a Prius or Insight driver and want something a little more fulfilling in terms of driving aspects, then this could be a good car for you.

However, I would rather drop the powertrain, keep a 6 manual and drop in the Civic Si motor or a turbo 4 (RDX engine).

Agreed on pretty much all your insight BD. A refresh would help, and could possibly be beneficial if they offer a gas only version to differentiate it from the hybrid a bit.

160 is good but maybe they can offer an Si version. Although they could be waiting for the next gen Civic and possibly some new tech. Time for turbo.
