Mercedes’ small models to use Renault-Nissan’s 1.6-litre turbodiesel engine
Sources in France revealed to Autocar that as part of their recent tie-up, Renault-Nissan’s new 128bhp 1.6-litre turbodiesel engine will be used in Mercedes smaller models. Another poor decision by Mercedes-Benz to make greater revenue, that will only damage the brand's reputation in the long-run.

I guess the European Infiniti M diesel is a POS since it uses a Renault engine...

Yeah Motor1. It was horrible for BMW using Peugot engines for the Mini. They really took a beating with that decision.

It may be a poor decision but it must be a better decision compared to what they did 8 years ago in merging with Chrysler.

It may ruin their reputation and high end image but for sure, it won't downgrade their overall quality and reliable.

Whatever. It doesn't ruin the brands reputation. They've been around for so many years. Their not 20-30 years young. It's the A&B classes for crying out loud.

Aston Martin's use Ford Motors does it matter?. Pagani Zonda uses Mercedes motors and it's greatly executed. Aston Martin's using Mercedes engines? it's just motors. It's up to the company using it to make it reliable.
