Kia Instructs Dealers To Replace NOT Repair Faulty Accelerator Pedals

Kia Motors Corp has asked its U.S. dealers to inspect and fix potentially faulty accelerator pedals on the new version of its Optima sedan.

The South Korean automaker said Optima models made between Oct. 16 and Nov. 24 could have sticky or unresponsive accelerator pedals because of a glitch with the spring designed to push the pedal back into position while driving.

If this was a Toyota we probably have 1000+ post by now saying how it unreliable and such. When was Kia or Hyundai known to be reliable? They have improve a lot but still not on par with the big dog yet, almost there.

Lexus-If this were Toyota they would probable deny there is a problem until it came out from NHSTA. Then they would further try to hide it until a class action law suit was filed. Then they would fight it some more asking the suit to be dropped. Then they would finally cooperate once the judge demanded that they own up to the problem. At least Kia is not trying to hide somthing. Further I not sure Kia would reward engineers for saving 100 million for developing a part that saved on engineering costs regardless if it the design was flawed. Further I'm not sure that Kia has the same kind of culture as Toyota in that they have trouble admitting "any" mistakes. So your right Kia is not like Toyota. Rather I think they are better because they are owned by Hyundai. And I think that Hyundai products have reached at least parity with Toyota and Honda products. In fact this is certainly showing up in sales performance of late.
