Jaguar Considers Adding SUV To Lineup

Jaguar is considering giving the green light to a crossover SUV according to well placed sources inside the company.

New boss Adrian Hallmark is firmly behind the plan too. “We need a crossover and we need to stop being a saloon-based company,” he told Autocar at a private dinner last night.

Hallmark also revealed that four-wheel-drive saloons will need to be part of the company's future in order to boost its appeal on the east coast of the US and parts of Europe.

A Jaguar SUV might be kind of cool, a lot of design possibilities

I'm interested in a Jag SUV if it comes out in late 2012 when my lease is up.

I find this very interesting as up to this point Suv's have been limited to LandRover. Further they now only use Jaguar based engines now.So if Jaguar does this how does this effect landrover?

As BlackDynamite said, it worked tremendously well for Porsche, and I think Jaguar can definitely pull it off. I think they can make something that will sit well amongst the Range Rover Vogue and Range Rover Sport without detracting from RR sales, perhaps a 7-seat crossover to rival the X5, Q7 and M?

I was hoping the big-on-the-outside, small-on-the-inside fad wouldn't span into another decade, but it's a race to bottom for everyone.

Jaguar will compete with itself (land rover), i don't see it happening anytime soon at least.
