If Honda And Toyota Hold Back On EV Models, Will Their Absence Cause The Market To Fail?
The electric vehicle market in Japan is now burgeoning. Once the mainstay of small independents building low speed, short range Neighborhood Electric Vehicles (NEVs), major manufacturers including Nissan, Mitsubishi and Subaru are now hopping on the EV train in the hopes of raking in some greenie revenue.

Because they wouldn't make outlandish claims of 100+mpg then deliver a car that is a regular hybrid...just sayin'

no! the tables have turned and turned quickly ford easily has one of the best hybrid lineups and is much better than anything Honda has. GM has the Volt and is planning a family of cars based on that platform and GM is already optimizing the future Volt as we speak. Toyota will stay in the past with NI CAD batteries and a plug in Prius that gets less than 15 miles on a single charge while Honda believes the CRZ coupe is sporty with a 0 to 60 time of 9.7 almost an entire second slower then the Volt sedan.

CR-Z is a complete failure and the insight no one remembers at all.

That's sort of like saying if Rolls Royce stopped making Uber-Luxurymobiles, would that market fail? Or if Intel stopped making CPUs, would the PC industry fail? Nope! If there is a demand in a market, then that demand still exists, regardless of one or two players are there to meet that market, or not.
