Which Car Companies Ads Are The LEAST Believable And Why?
So if there's one thing that automakers are good at, it's making advertisements. Cars are suppose to be the second largest purchase in a household and with that said, there's a lot of convincing to be done.

Taking that into consideration, it seems that some commercials are a bit over the top. In fact, it seems that they could be downright unbelievable.

Take, for  example, General Motors' 2011 Buick Regal spot down below. Unassuming consumers take a look at the interior and exterior of the new car -- without any badging -- and are asked what it seems like to them. Some say there are hints of Jaguar and BMW.

Or how about the 2011 Hyundai Sonata advert that says its paint is better than a Mercedes-Benz CLS?

Regardless, take a look at some examples down below and tell us, which car company has the least believable ads?

The Buick commercial is one of those annoying ones; there's nothing wrong with the Honda one, but it's funny how that tire rolls back up on the ramp; The Celica one is cute.

That Buick one is believable, but it's just annoying.

@upwards: The BMW commercial you shared is just cool!

Buick's ad is pretty much the most "stupid" one again. This kind of advertising strategy can only seen in US only. They hired a few unprofessional look (just the look) people and guess what the car is.

To me, those unprofessional and stupid look (again just the look) people give me the impression that they don't ever own a Lexus, MB, BMW or Infiniti before or don't even know what those brands are. This ad is totally unconvincing.

As a consumer, I would think that this ad delivers the only message to me that this Buick can be used to trick those "ignorant" consumers and make them realize this car has the same quality of Lexus, MB,....... (It may have the same quality as those brands but the ad should have different ways to present this.)

I remember the first generation of Malibu had exactly the same advertising strategy to make the consumers realize that the car was an Accord or Camry. This was one of the most funniest jokes at that time. Now Buick uses the same strategy in the ad. Good Luck!!

More than one ad in recent times that I found not believable: 1.Acura ZDX, where the girl stops with a lingering stare. It should be more of a look of disgust. 2.Lexus commercial where the husband is given a red IS250 and is happy. No self-respecting man wants a red small sedan with the least power in the lineup. 3.Hyundai commercial where the guy feels foolish about paying big money for his Mercedes. You buy a Mercedes to reward yourself/show the world you are doing well. A Sonata may be good for its class, but MB fit/finish/materials cannot be matched for Sonata pricing.

Anytime a car company has to tell you their car is stylish. I mean, there is a picture of the damn car right there. If they have to tell you it is stylish, perhaps it is not.

Any of toyota's desperate "we're not so bad" ads. No talk of features, no talk of technology, only the usual hype-driven bs like their fabled, imaginary "reliability" or nonsense like "we're still number one (because of all the cash we throw on the hoods)."
