Mercedes-Benz Concedes It Will Probably Finish Third In US Sales Race
Daimler AG’s Mercedes-Benz brand may sell fewer luxury vehicles in the U.S. this year than Toyota Motor Corp.’s Lexus and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG’s namesake BMW brand, a Mercedes executive said.

“I’m pretty sure we’ll be No. 3,” Ernst Lieb, president of Mercedes-Benz’s U.S. unit, told reporters yesterday at an event in Detroit. Mercedes and BMW this year have narrowed the gap in luxury cars and sport-utility vehicle sales with Lexus, which has held the top spot in the U.S. since 2000.

You are really dumb, Lexus' cars cost substantially less Mercedes if Lexus doesn't outsell Mercedes they are total crap.

And why is it so important to be first in sales? Isn't exclusivity an essential part of luxury? How about the fact that Mercedes vehicles are less affordable than Lexus vehicles - yes even after rebates are accounted for on both sides.

Doesn't matter how many you sell. It matters how well you make them, and Mercedes and BMW will always be at the top.

after having an is-f for over a year, which i think has got to be one of the best japan has to offer, im back to bmw (m3) and think it is worlds better than lexus. for all the haters of german cars, drive a new benz, bmw, or audi and you will have a hard time jumping into infiniti, lexus or acura.
as far as older used cars go, i will agree that buying a used lexus is probably, if not definitely better than a new benz, bmw or audi for reliablity.

Yes Cigar guy Lexus is such good quality that they had to recall the LS for a steering flaw, The HS for a leaking gas tank, The RX started the Toyota acceleration crisis and ES was also recalled.
