2011 Lexus CT 200h price starts at $29,120
Lexus today announced the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Prices (MSRP) for the all-new 2011 CT 200h hybrid, which will be priced at $29,120. The MSRP does not include a delivery, processing and handling fee of $875. When it arrives at dealerships in early March, it will be the fifth hybrid in the Lexus lineup and have the luxury industry’s best overall combined fuel economy at 42 mpg. With its starting price of $29,120, CT 200h will have the most attractive price point in the Lexus lineup and offer the level of refinement, quality and reliability that customers have come to expect.

The CT 200h emits approximately 60 percent fewer smog-forming emissions than the average new car, and has EPA-estimated ratings of 43 mpg city and 40 mpg on the highway utilizing regular 87-octane gasoline. Moreover, the CT 200h can be operated in a switchable EV mode which generates zero emissions.

I'm still trying to figure out the demographic. Is it people who own wedge shaped hybrids who want something like a CR-Z or CT200h to fee like they have performance cars while attaining mpgs? Or is it people who think they are retaining some sort of sportiness while going to a hybrid vehicle without much sacrifice?

Either way I fail to see any appeal to these vehicles. Especially one that is a luxury Toyota Matrix.

Yet another attempt from Lexus at marketing a "dedicated luxury hybrid vehicle". Will it work this time ? Don't know but at this price, a loaded Golf TDi appears a much better choice.

the golf is a BLAST to drive. and it's purchased by younger buyers who make a good living.

is the CT fun to drive? who is the buyer for the CT? check out the reviews....

headline: "With exciting looks but not much else to raise the pulse, the new CT200h is long on mileage, short on fun."

uaw: which do you care more about....what your friends think? or how much you enjoy the car you just paid $30,000 for? your answer will reveal whether or not you actually give a damn about cars.

43 city ? Where did you get that. Lexus CT200h is rated EPA 42MPG combined.

On the road, the TDi need 1.5 seconds less than the CT to get from naught to sixty. I usually don't care abouth tenths but the difference between 8.5 and 10secs feels like an eternity.

As if it was not enough, you can order the TDi with either a 6sp stick or 6sp DSG while the CT can only be ordered with a lousy CVT.

Do you rely on this, on the first paragraph states 42 combined. On the next paragraph (the one you decided to believe) it states 43 City and 40 Highway. Read again: 43 City and 40 Highway.

Mea culpa on the MPG

Current estimates for the two:

Golf TDI
30 City
42 Highway

CT 200h
35 City
34 Highway

So the question is how you use it.

the lexus is no more fun than the prius. so why not just buy a prius? here's the kicker:

prius: 51/48
CT: 42/41

what is the REASON to buy a CT over a prius?

yup....no explanation as usual (because there ISN'T one). just inarticulate boys who deboost. lol

still wondering why anyone would buy this over prius which costs less and gets 25%+ better mileage.

99% of the people on this site can't really drive. Most of their cars have higher limits than they do.....LOL

Pricewise it's right there with the A3 and 1 series which is a good idea for Lexus.

but it's not FUN TO DRIVE like the a3 and the 1-series. completely different buyers.

cigar: the prius a fantastic car--beats everyone in mileage. the corolla is a great little economy car. and the land cruiser is a truly capable vehicle off road.

what i find amusing is when one of these cars is rebadged and 20-30% is added to the price. that's just pathetic. the ultimate in badge consciousness. plus it's just fun to point out people's total ignorance. it amuses me.

much like the HS (who's the target market?), the CT will bomb in the market. it doesn't do anything terribly well and is embarrassed by the exceptionally fuel efficient prius.
