Toyota announces new glass technology that cuts UV by 99 percent
Toyota announced that it will introduce a new and innovative glass technology that it will reduce ultraviolet (UV) penetration into the front of the car by approximately 99 per cent.

According to the manufacturer, the new technology will be used on front-door glass. This means that Toyota will use this technology also on the windscreen and says that the UV will be reduced by approximately 99 per cent through the use of a UV-blocking film between two sheets of glass in the laminating process.

That's great WINDOW technology but what are they doing about that new car smell that is making everyone fall asleep while they drive?

There is a window tint that does this, it has been around for a long time, I have it in my car and it is great, How long will it take to be be able to get this in our cars, it will save energy with less air con.

Lame is lame and beige is beige. The FT-86 i.e. Solara replacement was news until it turned into their new slow, underperforming, potentially hybrid coupe.

But hey, cattle love the grass on Toyota's fields so they will continue to buy. Fine by me, I'll stick with my niche vehicles.

UV doesn't penetrate glass particularly well, anyway. The goal must be to reduce fading of interior plastics. Blocking UV doesn't do much to reduce heat gain; that's infra-red, which films block, so it probably doesn't have much to do with air conditioning, either.
Would be interested to know what they hope to gain with this. It could be interesting.
