2011 GMC Sierra HD Concept Official Detail and Photo
The GMC Sierra All Terrain HD concept is an exploration of heavy-duty truck capability combined with greater off-road versatility. It is highlighted by a bold exterior design, enhanced all-terrain suspension and premium details expected of a GMC – all designed to enable greater access to off-road destinations.

The new 2011 Sierra HD underpins the All Terrain HD concept, with a modified, production-based 4WD chassis and the Duramax diesel/Allison 1000 six-speed powertrain. The enhanced suspension and unique body dimensions, including increased ground clearance and wider track, as well as greater approach/departure angles, deliver off-road capability while maintaining HD levels of payload and trailering capacity.

The Sierra All Terrain HD features a unique five-foot, eight-inch Crew Cab/short box body configuration that supports a wheels-at-the-corners proportion. Shorter in overall length than production Sierra HD models, the concept’s dimensions contribute to greater approach/departure angles.

Wow, makes me want to buy a farm or a horse just so I can use this thing. An awesome truck - at least American car makers can still lead in something. This thing is simply awesome.

Chev is on the right track, One thing that Chev should have done is include two selectable lockers for the diffs and increased the wheel travel, you don't have to be a Baja racer to appreciate increased wheel travel, Chev still has to tuck everything up out of the way a little better, at least make it flush with the bottom of the truck so the under carriage isn't hanging down, and did you notice the old school pavement princess that was modified, it's all jacked up but the vulnerable undercarriage is very low, you don't want a high chair on wheels but you need something with large tires with lots of wheel travel. And this truck does look good! Ford's truck doesn't come with racing shocks but you can get the optional selectable rear locker, that is priceless!

Great points. Obvious things like making it "flush" appears so obvious to us, wonder why they don't take those details into consideration?

If only they will make a Suburban or Tahoe with some of these features, especially that diesel engine, dang! Ford's current generation of diesels are pretty bad ass, but this one catches GM up.

Looks impressive. Too bad most of the models that end up here in Southern California will end up crowding city streets and overstuffing "compact" parking spots rather than exploring the off-road environment they're designed for. Oh, and please make the elevated headlights extra bright so they shine directly into my rear-view mirror.

Even environmentalists use trucks, maybe if the parking lots had large truck parking you could park there, and I am sure that they will aim the lights for you, for the record I drive a civic, lol There is a place for trucks like it or not.

Do you feel the same about semi truck headlights or are you just being a hater? Anyways there is a little button on your review to dim out headlights on most cars hope yours has one because this is the the most popular vehicle sold in America today.

@ "truckman", Yes, of course there is a place for off-road trucks. And it aint in a compact parking spot or narrow city streets, where they pose a safety hazard to every other driver not driving an unnecessarily oversized truck. It's OFF-ROAD.

@"uaw_lax", no I don't feel the same way about semi truck headlights. A semi truck has a vital purpose for which it is being utilized. Raised, off-road trucks that spend 99.9% of their existence on-road, don't. But you're apparently a member of the uaw, so I don't expect you to possess the ability to think rationally.

I sense your anger toward trucks, your rants are aimless! Compare this to the 2011 Dodge 3/4 ton , the Dodge is 79.5 inches wide and this is a mere 73 inches, so with your logic this is the truck to buy being 6.5 inches narrower than the competitor, and I have seen many small cars parked in the bigger parking stalls many times, and there has almost always been compact spots they avoid, so stop parking in the large spots so the trucks don't have to park in the compact spots! And if it would make you feel any better this truck isn't all that, it lacks lockers and extra wheel travel, all it is is a 3/4 ton with nice shocks and 2-3 inch taller tires, that is it! Sorry.
