VIDEO SHOOT OUT: Audi TTRS vs Porsche Boxster vs Nissan 370Z Which Is The Fastest Around The Track?
Fifth Gear, that other British automotive show, recently threw the Audi TT RS up against the Porsche Boxster S and Nissan 370Z. This wasn't your typical match, including an agility test with J-turns and sliding into parking spaces, a drifting competition and finally a hot lap.

Interestingly, it seems 5G has snapped up one Ben Collins as a new tester. You might remember Ben. He's the guy who was fired as Top Gear's Stig after revealing he was Top Gear's Stig. Ben ends up driving the Nissan and longtime 5G presenter Tiff Needell drives the Audi.

1. Boxster = Balanced
2. TT-RS = Understeer.
3. 370Z= Heavy

Why is it a ttrs coupe against two convertibles? If they used a 370Z hardtop it would have been much closer. Even though the Boxster still won, a Cayman would have destroyed.

If Ben had been wearing a white racing suit, or if they had all been driving the same car...

why did they test a Boxster S and a 370Z convertible against a TT-RS coupe? Convertibles are heavier and less rigid. Do they not make the TT-RS in a convertible? If not then they probably should have used the Cayman S and the 370Z Coupe. Both the Porsche and Nissan would have likely been a couple seconds faster around the track in coupe form.

You, know JRobUSC, I'm thinking the same thing. I didn't like the fact that it wasn't objective, but rather subjective. I beginning to see a trend with the "test analysis" how they would have one vehicle in a test comparisons to be handy cap in some way. Have you guys notice how they drive the American's and Japanese's cars? How they over exaggerate when driving them around a circuit?

Not to mention three different drivers and they didn't swap cars. The only fair way to test them would've been for all three guys to complete each event in each car. And to test coupes versus coupes, of course.

No surprises here.. the expensive mid-engine car won.
That being said, the 370Z is much cheaper. Kudos to Nissan from bringing purpose-built sport car to the masses. Now, if they could only get rid of those silly door handles, it would probably improve the Cx and I would maybe consider buying one (used).

Find a way to lose 250 lbs. and the Nissan would be a winner. More aluminum and maybe a "club sport" model that really lightens the load.

If they'd tested a coupe stick instead of a convertible automatic that would have saved almost 200lbs right there.

Exactly, everybody knows a manual is lighter in weight than a automatic.

A well-intended comparison executed awfully wrong.

Yea that was a bit strange to match up the TT-RS with the two convertibles but it is what it is. If the Porsche Boxster S beat the TT-RS coupe then surely the Cayman S and the 370Z would beat the TT-RS in hard top form.

In the real world I would prefer the Cayman S and the TT-RS but the 370Z coupe is great value I think. They all have great exhaust notes but today in this test the balanced Boxster takes the win.
