Retired airline pilot Jeffrey Kaffee receives pre-ordered Chevrolet Volt
Jeffrey Kaffee, a retired airline pilot from Parsippany, N.J., recently became the first customer to take delivery of a pre-ordered Chevrolet Volt, a plug-in hybrid. He returned early to pick up the keys for the Volt at Gearhart Chevrolet in Denville, N.J. According to a General Motors Co. statement, Kaffee traded in a Toyota Prius. Kaffee's car is the first of 360 Volts being shipped recently from GM’s Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant.

Your looking at a picture taken at an angle. I know your smart enough to understand things get distorted when you do that. As far as nobody wanting American cars, the majority of GM and fords success is fueled from the ugly Honda and uninspiring Toyota's they try to pass off as top quality win in fact the Japanese has been leading the industry in recalls for the past three years.

uaw_lax: are you high? There is no distortion. The panel does not line up.

I am also a photographer and any photographer knows that when pictures are taken from an angle such as this lines are exaggerated and more dramatic.

If its distortion how come the other panels line up? Is this some kind of magic distortion that only effects door panels?

As a photographer myself I can tell you are talking out of your ass.

I agree with UAW on this one. There are two effects that we are experiencing with this pic. The first is parallax. This causes the lateral distances between objects to be influenced by their vertical and longitudinal distances. The next thing that we are seeing is the lens being used. I don't know what you photography types call the effect, but there is distortion closer towards the camera than away from it. These combined distortions are causing some of what we are seeing. That said, the car itself sets this up. Look at the strip on the door and the strip on the panel. They are in line (look at the lower lines), but if you look closely, you will see that the strip on the panel does not curve outwards away from the panel as much as the strip on the door. I'm no photographer at all, but I can see well enough to realise what is happening. This pic here shows the difference in curvature, but from almost the opposite angle from before:

I think it's great he's trading in the Prius for the Volt. A little irony there. It's good to see American cars successful again along with much improved quality.
