What Was The MOST Overrated Car Of 2010?
Oh-kay, as we approach the end of the year it's time to reflect on the past 12 months. Recently we asked you to give us the names of cars that you thought were underrated. You know, the underdogs that never received any respect.
This time around we are going to pull a 180 on you.
What are this year's most OVERRATED cars?
The cars that have been getting WAY too much credit when they didn't deserve it and are being blown up to be these fantastic things when in reality, they're simply not.
Think long and let us know in the comments below...

Not sure if a car that can take me 40 miles plus without burning a drop of gas would be considered over rated.

It is when the same company leased a car that had a range over 60 miles and never needed a drop of fuel. The volt is definitely overrated.

MorePower,
I don't see why people are still criticizing GM for the EV1 cancellation, I also don't see how they can't see how much of a leap forward the Volt is over the EV1.
The EV1 was a HUGE loss leader that could never have been sold because it would have costs the owners HUGE amounts in potential repairs so GM ran the experiment and ended the program when they could no longer support the losses.
Also the limited production, 2 seat only, 75 miles tops EV1 with no ability to extend the range isn't really a comparison to a mass production 4 seat compact that goes 40 miles EV with up to 250 miles range extended.
Seriously there is NO comparison.

@ 91z4me
Though the EV-1 was small, it was a huge leap over the Volt. We all need to be honest, people who buy the Volt & Prius are using them mostly as a daily commuter, usually with just themselves in the car. In this role, the EV-1 was perfectly suited.
I would say to all those that think the Volt is a quantum leap forward in consumer automotive technology: Show me how it is any different than any other mass-marketed & produced compact hybrid on the market currently.
I would also argue that the EV-1 never had GM's support. As a product on the market, GM was more concerned about pumping out large suv's with huge profit margins and lobbying Congress to repeal California's air quality regulations. To be honest, the EV-1 was GM's solution to CA passed regulation that would require all automotive manufacturers to have 10% of the vehicles sold in the state to be 0, or near, emission vehicles.
We'll never know how successful the EV-1 could have been if GM had put its support behind it. The Volt is simply a Prius for Americans that refuse to buy foreign cars: nothing more, nothing less.

I would throw the Lexus LF-A into the ring for consideration, and possibly even the Mercedes SLS. While I do agree the Honda CR-Z and Chevy Volt are strong candidates, the LF-A and SLS have been hyped and hyped and hyped appearing on most monthly car publications, and yet neither one comes across as a winner.

at least the SLS exists, the LF-A has been a production dream for years and years now. and still no production model in sight. the LF-A may be the most overhyped car of the decade--that's all it is until we see one on the road.

The amount of misinformation among you all STILL does not surprise me. Every. Single. Review. of the LF-A has sung its praises as a track thoroughbred. Also the LF-A has been on sale (or special lease) for awhile now, though I do believe that all 500 have been spoken for, until they release the Nurburgring edition.

5-Series. German Lexus. BMW seems to be going after the (much larger) crowd of folks who don't give a damn about driving (with the soft steering feel and all), instead of the enthusiasts. You know... The enthusiasts? The folks who put BMW where they're at in first place.
The droves of non-enthusiast who purchased BMW's were just by-products of creating an enthusiast's machine. Now BMW seems to be letting the folks who don't care about steering feel, dictate steering feel. Taking away yet another redeeming aspect of a BMW. Making it less of a "Driver's Car".
The 550 is fast as balls though. And by far the best car in that class. I guess if you really wanted a sharp precision driving tool, you'd be looking at an "M" car and not the standard models?

Volt. When I think of "electric car" I don't think of a car with gasoline in it with tailpipes and emissions.
Maybe GM couldn't match Leaf's range and pricepoint so they decided to pop in a range-extender and try to tell people 100 miles is not enough, you'll get stranded omg!!

Kia Soul 2010 most overated! Door panel scratched up from belt buckle due to cheap plastics as did half the dashboard! 4 speed engine is annoyingly buzzy, MPG's after 6500 miles (before I traded it in) was 21.8 (not impressive). It does look cool though!
Amazing how marketing can take a lame box on wheels with a cheap A$$ 4 speed engine and glrify it!
Second most underated: FORD FIESTA! Worst test drive ever. Its like a Chevy Aveo with slightly better styling!
