Audi to beat its target for A1 deliveries next year
Audi said that the A1 will beat its deliveries target next year. What is more interesting is that the German manufacturer may increase production of its smallest car in order to meet the demand for the model, according to sales chief Peter Schwarzenbauer. Audi hopes to sell 120,000 A1s in 2011, which means an increase of 20k units from the previous projection of 100,000. Schwarzenbauer said that this number may also be increased for a second time.

interesting, since just last week all the articles about the A1 said sales have been surprisingly poor, that dealers and consumers were saying it's too expensive, that they cut back production and their sales forecasts as a result, and that they're going to start incentivizing them to move them.

And you believe everything you read on the internet is true?

no, but a quick search will show you all the articles about dealers complaining there's been a lot of consumer pushback about the price of the A1, stagnant sales, and upcoming incentives to move them. Now a week later you get an article saying Audi thinks the car is going to surpass their goals, which is a total 180. So I might not believe everything I read on the internet, but it seems pretty feasible that the first set of stories were accurate and now Audi is spinning it.

OK. Then you're free to choose the side of the story that makes you fell better.

I don't have a dog in this fight so I'm not basing anything on "what makes me feel better"'. I couldn't care less either way. But you dismissing dozens of independant stories about the A1 doing poorly, and instead supporting a single, interestingly timed follow up release from Audi, means you obviously do.

Audi is getting desperate for sales so they can fulfill their little dream to be number 1. The easiest way to get more sales is to go down market, but they never should have put the Audi badge on the polo.

Love the styling of this car. I find this and the Fiat 500 far more attractive than the MINI Cooper and BMW 1 series coupe.

The A1 looks horrible and like a girls car the Fiat 500 is cute a nice girls car. The BMW 1 series coupe looks nice IMO. The 1 series looks different from many small cars, thats a good thing in my world.
I like the look of the Fiat but would never buy one, i would like a 1 coupe because it looks good, drives fantastic and have a good size.
