Ford Poised To Overtake Toyota And Move Back To Number Two In US Sales
Ford Motor Co. is on track to recover its No. 2 sales ranking in the United States, supplanting Toyota Motor Corp. after achieving its biggest one-year gain in market share since the 1980s.
Ford has increased its U.S. auto sales at nearly double the market's growth rate, boosting its share to 16.4 percent, from 15.3 percent last year and 14.2 percent in 2008, said George Pipas, the company's market analyst.

Personally, I think Ford is chasing the profit title. And they seem to be doing a pretty good job at it.

You do realize that doesn't reflect 75% of the year, right?

I can't help but think in some way Toyota wouldn't mind that someone else is in the crosshairs. Give credit where credit is due, Ford has done a gread job through hard work, intelligence and engineering. GM on the other hand, SSDD.

The problem with fleet sales is that it devalues the brand. Toyota hasn't done well with the Taurus brand. The car looks dumpy and is expensive.

Toyota is giving the most incentives of any Major Brand.GM,Ford and Chrysler do NOT give free maintenance for 2 years to sell their cars on top of regular cash back and mark downs.BMW does to entice buyers in the high end market.Ford is doing well and makes great RELIABLE products.Their F series kicks any Tundras butt all day long.Just ask any farmer or contractor that requires a heavy duty work truck. Its just a matter of time when Toyota will be displaced.Give the public another story and credit where it is due.Toyota sells to many rental companies also.I dont think the rental car companies want lawsuits with people dying due to Sudden acceleration either.

I hope that Fiesta has what it takes to tackle down that over rated Yaris Toyota keeps bragging about. I'm tried of Toyota bragging about their mpgs and their Camry. I'm tried of seeing a bland Corolla every .5 of a second on the road. I'm tried of their Highlander and that Venzsa that took the Edge's headlights. I'm also tried of that upscale Camry called the ES. Go Ford do what ever ya'll got to do to get Toyota off that list. And the Ford F-150 and Ram and Siverado needs to do whatever they got to do to stop that Tundra.

Observer1984 you probably cannot afford a Yaris and BlackDynamite and sportsbik80 look like Toyota salesman that cannot use the reliability technic to sell these dangerous boring cars.

What are you trying to say?If it was fabricated these people would not be writing to consumer affairs.I know too many that did not complain also. You asked for evidence and I delivered.Give it up.I say it like I see it.I am not blinded because I like a certain brand. If you lost a family member due to Toyotas ignorance you will not be happy either. If you ever visit the Islands you will see the rust buckets that Japan makes.Cars from USA,Germany,England and Korea hold up way better.
