VIDEO REVIEW: Audi RS4 Avant & Cabrio test

I understood 'Porche Killa'. Avant sales will go down because Audi finally has the RS4 as a Sedan. I know the new BMW M3 will be faster and will return as a Coupe. Awesome to see Audi finally make a friggin coupe version of the RS4! RS4 could have gone with wider fenders as well (especially in rear; front fenders look bigger), they are bigger then stock atleast but not as menacing as the new M3's aggressive body panels.

Awesome cars and awesome exhaust tone.

The RS6 has held its value better than the M5.

The BMW in the video is not STOCK. It is also broken in, it has 35,000 kn. About 22,000 miles. The RS4 has abot 2,500 km, or about 1,500 miles.

You really have an inferiority complex going on dude you need to pop a valium. I have not seen one test yet where the M3 is even close to RS4 in anything. That is multiple reviewers at multiple magazines and car shows.

Sadly, there is no coupe version of the A4/RS4 (yet), but I was told buy the test driver that the lost weight of the door could make a difference of up to 5 seconds!!!!

You guys are rediculous, first you say that the RS4 is slower at the ring than the M5, once you get owned by data, you proclaim that the RS4 is inferior to a MB sl65 because it is quicker. Your arguments are running out. Just suck it up.

But for that fool that says a M3 is 47K and change, I will never stand to hear that. My wife's 330Ci sticker price was already 44K and it's starting price was 37K. If you have never bought a BMW or ever been to see the sticker prices of BMW, my advice to you, don't EVER EVER make a statment you can't back up. I challenge you to find a BMW M3 for 47K and change. DO it.

1) My 2002 M3 out the door price was 61,500 with tax and registration. Maybe you don't know what that is either (BMW 4 EVER). It's sticker price was 56K. BMW never sell cars at starting prices. All BMW sticker prices are usually well above starting prices. My M3 started at 47K, but with all its options rose to a staggering 56K and over 60K out the door.


It is funny that you guys say that. It seems the only reason you guys bought your BMWs is to show to people how much money you guys make. Those VW Lowest Ego Emisions ads are spot on.

Ok, now that the Jealous BMW fans have had their time to whine, let’s get back to the topic of the RS4.

I've already seen a couple of RS4's on the streets here in LA. The sound of the engine is utterly mouth watering. I spotted the last by the sound first! I thought a jet plane had landed on Robertson!

Phenomenal.

When I found myself in one 3 weeks ago (at an Audi event), I was completely seduced. Even though its based on a 4 year old model, it feels like its from the future. The acceleration…. God… the acceleration…..

You should check out the latest Fifth Gear that pits the RS4 against the updated M3 CS. Both cars are fairly well matched in terms of platform age (RS4’s 2002 vs. M3’s 2000), and model hierarchy (both are top-of-the-line in their class).

The M3, as I know from personal experience, is a very fun car to push around on a track. But this RS4 utterly DESTROYS the BMW. It’s incredible. I thought the M3 was fast, but the RS4 blows it away in both the straight line and on the track loop by several car lengths. As the host of the show put it: “The RS4 is unbeatable”.

I wasn’t thinking of getting an RS4 because I was holding out for a new platform Audi (probably the A5 or at least a new TT). But after being in an RS4, I’m finding it very hard to resist. Especially since its priced well bellow what I thought Audi would charge for a limited edition Quattro GmbH model.

Anyway, just thought I’d share.

Quattro Gmbh models are currently limited to just a few thousand per territory. This is because the new components are hand-built by a team of 100 technicians at Audi's high performance unit.

Like the previous RS6, it's expected the RS4 to sell out its initial stock. But also like the RS6, expect Audi to add a new run of models to satisfy demand. The RS4 is already sold out here in LA and orders are backlogged.

On a related note, Quattro GmbH has just doubled its capacity to accommodate the production of the new R8 supercar. It's recently leaked that the R8 will have a redesigned naturally aspired version of Audi's 5.2 V10 FSI that will achieve power output upwards of 550hp.

Not all VW engines are the same as Audi, and not all Audi engines are the same as VW. Currenty they share 2.0t, the 8 and 12 cylinder engines. The 8 and 12 are in the Touareg and Phaeton. So that leave the bulk of the model no sharing any engine commonanlity. There engines unique to both.

Basic floorpan can be shared but are significantly different for audi and VW models. you see major suspension differences and structural difference. The chassis' are mearly building blocks that are modified.

Hey BTW saw the new E90 debut at Mid Ohio. Too bad they were off road more than on and the Audis stomped them. I think they will get it sorted out and then it will be interesting to see how they fare. Until then all of the BMW's saw only one thing of the Audi's.. Their tail pipes.
