For $10 million, Toyota Motor Company  managed to resolve what was seen as one of the most serious legal challenges in company history.

Yet the amount, less than 1% of the titan's last quarterly profit, could set the tone for the wave of litigation Toyota still faces after problems with sudden acceleration in its vehicles garnered worldwide attention.

It's really the Lexus dealer in San Diego that is liable. That's why the payout is so small. The family will get more from the dealer's insurance and will go out of business. They killed those four people. That was a sad day for everyone involved. No winners here.........

Toyota continues to get off easy, including the three government fines. Hopefully, before too much longer juries will start granting plaintiffs awards similar to those assessed against big tobacco.
