Sonata Drives Records Sales For Hyundai In 2010
This year will go down as a turning point for Hyundai, mostly for the better. And one car will remembered above all others: Sonata.

Sure, Sonata is the flagship of the brand. But this is the year that car was so impressively redesigned that Hyundai is now officially declaring that it sold more than 200,000 Sonatas in North America. Led by Sonata, Hyundai will sell more than 530,000 vehicles in the U.S. this year, a record for the brand.

This thing looks hideous IMHO, the new Kia optima looks a lot better.

I think the new Elantra looks hideous... It's overdone I think this one is less and looks better.. but everyone has a different opinion :)

I expect better and better sales numbers from Hyundai/Kia. They seem unstoppable with one class leading model after the other.

Great Job Hyundai/Kia.

The Sonata is NOT the flagship. If you are considering flagship the most sold vehicle, then yes. But everywhere I look, flagships are noted as the most expensive vehicle in the lineup. That would mean the Hyundai Equus, then Genesis, then Azera, THEN Sonata in that order.

Aside from the bad writing, the Sonata gives people an alternative to beige Camry, Accord, Altima vehicles. It has much better looks, and gives performance out of a 4 cylinder instead of rough, chinsy power from the other 3. More sales are on 4 cylinders anyways in these types of vehicles and I'm still waiting to see Honda and Toyota get creative with the Accord and Camry. Meanwhile Nissan is chasing it's tail trying to make the Altima as Maxima'ish as possible.

When will they go back to making each model distinctive and not styled like one another.

Precisely why Honda, Toyota, and Nissan are #7 and below in my personal market.

And apparently your personal market (whatever that means) means nothing to Toyota/Honda/Nissan. In the grand scheme of things, if you have a winning formula, stick to it.

Decent cars, but will stil take Nissan and Honda over them.
