Ford Introduces "Nanny Key" To Protect Teenage Drivers

Ford Introduces
Ford Motor is giving parents the chance to send Howard Stern a message: Stay away from my teenage driver.

The automaker will announce today that it will create a system that allows parents to block 16 channels on Sirius Satellite Radio that could carry raunchy programming. The channels include those of shock jock Stern, Playboy, Hip-Hop Nation and Raw Dog Comedy.

Meanwhile you just bring another friends radio into the car or utilize your android device to play streaming from the websites.

Another lost cause. How about a Nanny Key that restricts exaggerated acceleration or limits speed to 70mph.

This is a brilliant idea on Ford's part. Ask any parent, they are looking for safety, first and foremost when they buy for their kids. This system requires kids fasten their seatbelt, puts a limit on stereo volume, top speed and helps with all sorts of bad habits a lot of Teens have.

When a teen has enough money to buy their own car, they can buy one without the nanny equipment.

I'm all for having the ability to block certain sat radio stations. Its just like Cable TV.

Good luck parents trying to trick, bribe or coerce your children to set-up the Sync radio to block the stations you don't want your to listen to while driving.

Question:

Will Ford provide some sort of device that can be implanted in these children so that when they get in their friends' car those same stations will not play either?

This is Ford pandering to horrible, self-centered and close-minded parents!

Those "...pandering to horrible, self-centered and close-minded parents..." are the ones who are paying Ford so my guess is that Ford is listening to the inputs/feedback/opinions of those people. I see it as one more option for that unique market segment that wants this feature. For those that don't care what their children listens to, I don't see Ford pointing a gun to your head saying you have to buy a Ford with these limitation.
