"based on the new Audi A8 in order to achieve higher production numbers."
Scratch that... try this instead?
"based on the new Audi A8 in order to achieve higher profitability"
Selling a $1 million + sedan that is based on a model a tenth the price will lead to massive profit margins regardless of how many they sell.

TYPICAL AUTOSPIES ENTHUSIAST: Nice car, man. What's it runnin'?
NICE CAR OWNER: It's got a twin-turbo V8 good for 650 horse and 600 lb-ft of torque. Ran the Ring in 7:15.
TAE: No, the platform, dude.
NCO: Uh, I don't know.
TAE:(Gets under the car) I hate to tell you this, but it's got a VW platform. You wouldn't catch me dead in that thing.
NCO: Uh, sure. Can I have my combo meal now?
TAE: (Crawls back into his booth) How many ketchup packs you want, sir.

Utterly idiotic concept. Brand engineering. Just let Bugatti die with dignity.
