Nissan to attach telematics system on Leaf to monitor distance, consumption
Nissan will attach a monitoring system to the Leaf, the world's first mass produced electric vehicle. If you were thinking of buying one, you’re burdened with the knowledge that how your car behaves and how you drive it will determine how the next-generation vehicles will be treated. Some say that Nissan is doing this because it wasn’t able to test the Leaf with real users before launching the mode. Nissan will use the Carwings telematics system (a subscription-based service linked to a global data center) to provide competitive rankings for energy use.

huh... somehow I believe this data is skewed... as most people won't be able to drive more then 35 miles away before they risk running out of charge before they make it home. If you are using the data to help design future ev's then you are missing a large portion of highway driving scenarios.

This is very smart contest. Nissan can track data on every climate in which the car is in use. They maybe able to reprogram the hybrid system to deal better with it climate. It's free information for next years improvement. I would buy a diesel-hybrid for now.

Nissan needs to add more sizzle to this car. Im all for it and wish it well but in the last two weeks Nissan has sold less than 25.
