Tata to use water as fuel
Tata motors, the company that builds the cheapest car in the world - Nano, will develop technologies that will use water as fuel.

To make cars running on water Ratan Tata invested $15 million for initiating researches, said a scientist involved in the venture.

An unnamed professor at MIT, Massachusetts, Boston has reportedly stated that he can split water directly into its components, hydrogen and oxygen. If this is true then water will have no problem in running our cars in the near future.

‘In our lab, we are attempting to create hydrogen by warming up water with graphite, a polymorph of the element carbon. We are working on finding a method to store the natural gas in solid state and converting it into 100 percent energy for various applications,’ Rao said.

A good idea, but Mr. Tata needs to build reverse osmosis plants first because even water will become scarcer than oil in a country of over a billion people.

People don't have water to live off much less fuel their cars. I've seen first hand. They need to focus infrastructure on clean drinking water and sanitation first. Maybe he can develop something that runs off crap.

That's why you target country's like America where water is less scarce. Wouldn't it be the day when we can use garbage as fuel and the fumes that come out of the exhaust are healthy to breathe.

This will never happen, I am sure it is possible, the money people will buy up the tech or kill them before this happens unfortunately.

Add a plastic fuel tank and you'll basically have a built-in sprinkler system to contain Nano fires.

$15 Million...wow, way to open the check book there champ. Nothing like investing what amounts to pocket change for a brand new automotive fuel source. Shows you really feel strongly about this goal succeeding.

Water can run a vehicle. At present, the most common way to do that is to split the water molecules into oxygen and hydrogen via electrolysis (in the presence of an acid electrolyte) and then recombine them through combustion (and then theoretically recapturing the water that is reformed back in the tank for a closed loop system). Of course this is only theoretical because of a number of issues. BUT, that does not mean that this is the only means of splitting a water molecule. That would be $15 million well spent if another more efficient way is found. Only research will prove or disprove the possibilities. Useless chatter on this board surely won't.

Many people have claimed to have done this years ago, there was one guy that was allegedly killed for making this, can you imagine what would happen to all the oil stocks and less war means less money to the share holders of the company that sells military weapons... this is in the trillions, do you think that they are going to just let TATA do this! They will buy them out or kill them, the CIA will probably do it.

I like the fact that you can run your Car/Truck with water - HHO Gas Conversion kits - Hydrogen Fuel Cells
