Is The "New" General Motors Lacking GOOD Customer Service?

Is The
One problem that I imagine any buyer looking at a Chevrolet Corvette has is this: "It's still a Chevrolet."

To be honest, I always thought that argument was bullbird. That was until you start stumbling across threads about certain manufacturers that just don't know how to deal with high-end clientele. Take, for instance, Volkswagen who didn't know exactly how to deal with customers that had Touaregs and Phaetons way back in the mid 2000s.

Perusing today's RSS feeds, I came across a story from The Truth About Cars that details a Corvette ZR1 owner's experience with his carbon ceramic brakes. Not only is this Chevrolet's flagship vehicle, but it is a 638 horsepower beast that deserves careful attention.

With that said, take a look at the FULL story by clicking "Read Article."

Then weigh in, is General Motors handling the ZR1 situation properly?

Though an objectively awesome car by any (non-environmental) metric some Corvette ZR1 owners are plagued with a strange brake vibration. Which, thanks to the Corvette Forum, is available for all and sundry to see. But let’s dig a little deeper: bearing in mind the customer involved is a personal friend, and his paraphrased comments are as follows.

I picked up my new ZR1 on Oct 29 and as soon as I got up to 75 the steering wheel began to vibrate…I then took the car straight to the only person on this earth I feel good about working on my corvette, Danny Popp at McKluskey Chev in Cincinatti OH. Pulled wheels and all balanced 0 on Hunter balancer.

In simple English, the diagnosis made it clear that the Michelin tires are not the problem. The next diagnosis goes one step further: Brembo rotors...

"Is The "New" General Motors Lacking GOOD Customer Service?"

If the market share increase and customer retention is a indication the answer is NO.

My brother has had issues with his new H-3T Alpha, the Chev dealer basically says black is white, what can you do? And I am in shock at the poor quality that chev is letting into there high end car, what else are they letting go? Are the rotors made in China?

The last GM vehicle I purchased blew its engine twice in the first 2,500
miles. After months of battling GM Customer Service they offered a new
vehicle if I found a similar one (they make them and they wanted me to find the replacement) and if the MSRP was higher then the one I have I had to pay GM the difference but if the MSRP was lower GM would not give me a refund for the difference. GM had forgotten the "customer" in Customer Service. I had to go the lemon law route to get a full cash refund.

I don't have a corvette, but I do own a 2007 Chevy HHR LT. I've had so many issues including brakes, 5 times machined on same rotors new beginning at 7600km. My vehicle is a lemon. I've had my struts, shocks replaced, twice sway bars, key fobs twice, steering column, steering gear, rear passenger folding seat knobs twice, sunroof wind deflector broke off, had my vehicle weighed. Thinking I'm abusing my vehicle taking off road. when the vehicle is driven on city roads, just had my catalytic converter changed after two GM mechanics could not find problem. Exhaust fumes entering cabin. Ended up at another dealership. Found out Flex pipe had a crack. When taken off. Was told normal wear. Not abuse. Where other dealership wanted to charge me further to diagnose problem. Majority of issues around 50000km. My vehicle has 106000km. You tell me if this is a lemon for fully paid New Vehicle. Oh and on top of that. When I originally put a down payment towards a Chevy HHR before this one I ended up buying. The salesman told me he sold it the day I went to pick it up. What the ****. There are more problems which don't come to my mind at the moment. But anyone looking to buy GM. Don't. I've tried many avenues to get help. From media, to people who are suppose to help consumers. GM Canada will not do anything. Everyone cast blame on me. Yet if I posted all my invoice repairs from GM. You would see how many issues I've had. I want everyone around the world to know the treatment I had to endure from GM. Yet we have to save their bacon here in CANADA. I wish they would give back with interest to all who had save their sorry asses for building a piece of ****. It burns me inside. Forums I'm on don't know what to say. Majority of their issues I've encountered not once but several times. What customer service. You have money to blow on a nice vehicle, Corvette. I'm just a blue collar worker. Just trying to make ends meet. You tell me who's getting ******. I hope my relatives in China pass this on. Don't buy or even think of investing in a piece of **** company. Go to other makers. Heck give me a Toyota. At least it's one or two issues over all. I'd take it in a heart beat. Just want this message to reach the masses for the treatment as a customer. I could go further. Would not be enough space to write. Thanks all and Happy New Years. Cheers Josh.

Funny thing is that for as much as like the new Buicks and Caddys, I can't see myself purchasing them because of this. So sad. Good old GM strikes again.
