SPIED: BMW's X1 Gets Spotted Coast-To-Coast
As BMW begins delivering its highly anticipated 2011 BMW X3 to awaiting customers, there has been another BMW sport-utility vehicle getting spotted quite a bit in the past several months.

Spotted by one of AutoSpies' eagle-eyed readers -- Jennifer Bird -- in December was a blue X1 in Los Angeles.

Also spotted in late December was a silver X1 roaming around the streets of Wilmington, North Carolina, according to an xbimmer user.

However, what everyone fails to realize that Agent 001 got up close and personal with the X1 back in October at the X3 launch.

As you can see both vehicles are sporting California "DST" plates. The only cars I have known to wear those plates are press fleet vehicles. So, I think it is safe to assume that BMW is doing some minor testing for its US-bound product.

Noticed this today in the neighborhood. Looks like manufacturer plates too. Just thought I would share.

It will be priced near the X3, much smaller, and oh yeah BMW is only importing 500 to the U.S. this year.

The X3 has nothing to worry about.

Press release to BMW dealers, it cost as much a the X3 (built in Europe), only 500 coming to the U.S. Europe as many as you want.

hard to tell the X1 and X3 apart, but both look like nice cars and should be fun to drive like all BMWs
