SHOWDOWN: Electric Car Wars, Nissan's Leaf vs. Ford Focus EV

SHOWDOWN: Electric Car Wars, Nissan's Leaf vs. Ford Focus EV
In the electric car wars, now there are two models to choose from that directly compete with another. Although the media would like to lead you to believe that the Chevrolet Volt is a comparable fighter, it really isn't since there is that gas-propelled generator that can keep it running forever.

In the true electric car showdown, it really comes down to the Nissan Leaf and recently unveiled Ford Focus EV. Because once their isn't any juice and you don't have an outlet, you have a problem.

Ford's saying that the Focus EV will nab 100 miles on a charge, which isn't groundbreaking since it seems to be the industry standard, but the key is that it can be charged in three to four hours. It takes the Nissan Leaf approximately double the time.

Additionally, the Focus EV wears reasonably attractive sheetmetal.

In fact, I am willing to go out on a limb and say that between the headlight and grill, this car does bear an Aston Martin-like "face." Keep in mind, I am referring to the A-pillar forward.

With that said, which car is the one to pick? The Ford Focus EV or the Nissan Leaf?

agree with upwards there are lots of other things wrong with that article

Like the no engine fluid is wrong, there is a coolant system installed.

a single speed transmission is still a transmission, you still have to gear it to the most efficient ratio. plus, since when is having a single gear a benefit???

that $2000 tax credit only happens when you install a $4000 home charger, it's 50%, up to $2000, not $2000 off of a $2200 installation

The interior actually looks really good quality and material wise. The grill does look very Austin Martinish which isn't a bad thing..

I really like what Ford has been doing lately, they've really brought the bar up especially for the price. The only problem is Electricity isn't always clean or expensive. Especially here in San Diego where we already have energy problems I can't imagine what would happen if we all started plugging our cars in
