Hyundai Is On The Rise, But This Time Are They Going To Be A Brand To Love Or To Loathe?

Hyundai Is On The Rise, But This Time Are They Going To Be A Brand To Love Or To Loathe?

At one time Hyundai specialized in “disposable” cars — that is, cars that were cheap to buy and cheaper to throw away when they were broken, like Wal-Mart DVD players.

No more. Recent Hyundais have been impressively well-designed and assembled, earning plaudits from new car reviewers and quality surveys alike.

Though it will likely take time for these improvements to be fully appreciated by consumers, shoppers have clearly noticed the progress Hyundai has made, and sales have rocketed to their highest-ever levels for the U.S. market.

I'm sure the government and media will find a new enemy in Hyundai, they sound so foreign.

Ah so hate the foreigners?

Funny coming from a country that is melting pot of the world.

It's not about the country.

It's about Obama's commie brothers the UAW can't get thier dirty little fingers on the production of American built Hyundais.

Here is a possible scenario, in chronological order.
(1) Hyundai, the crummy little Korean company that makes terrible cars like the rust-bucket Pony (thinking of the 1980s)
(2) Hyundai, the company that build reasonably okay econo-boxes (thinking of the late 1990s)
(3) Hyundai, the company that makes surprisingly nice economy cars. Respectable quality for the bucks (thinking circa 2008)
(4) Hyundai, the company that makes amongst the best economy cars, and is venturing into the upscale market (circa 2010)
And now, the future...
(5) Hyundai, the company that shifted their entire line a little more upscale, and charged more because they have the reputation behind them.
(6) Hyundai, where you go to get a solid, reliable, likeable car.
(7) Hyundai, getting widespread attention as The New Toyota
(8) Hyundai, the large, successful, and somewhat arrogant leader of the market segment.
(9) Hyundai, the evil company whose car's unintentionally accelerate, and deserved to be burned to the crucified.

Leaders rise, and they decline to be replaced by others.

(Oh, my kingdom for an Edit button. Last sentence: "...and deserved to be crucified.")

I have prayed and fasted for an edit function ever since I signed up. Maybe I should consider burnt offerings.

With there warranty being so good I would say that they are going places, Although I don't find any of them exiting but I would consider one if I needed another commuter car/suv? They are not even close to being on my radar for the 4x4 market, although they make heavy equipment so they have the ability, I would like to see them build 4x4s to compete with trucks like the Rubicon the Power Wagon and the Raptor, I am just dreaming that some competition will push the envelope a lot more, they are all just skimming the surface. We will love them just like I like Honda, safe and reliable but less expensive commuter car.
