Lincoln To Distance Lineup From Ford Equivalents
Ford Motor Co. offered a glimpse into its future Lincoln product plan today, saying Lincoln vehicles will be dramatically different from Ford division products in interior and exterior design as well as with technology offerings such as some unique powertrains.

“The strategy isn't just new products, but full differentiation from the Ford brand in not only design, but in technology,” Derrick Kuzak, Ford's group vice president of global product development, told a group of auto analysts at the Detroit auto show.

Hey, Ford got the memo. It was sent in the 1970s, but I guess it went via snail mail.

Well Audi has done well in FWD and AWD. If Lincoln is not going to go RWD then it should push it's AWD only and ditch the FWD. From what the article states it appears that Lincoln is going to become Mercury. Let's hope they have very different styling,a more attractive waterfall grill. I think Ford though should have some RWD platforms to compete with Chrysler and Chevy. Also it would help reduce the costs with the Mustang. To simply keep a RWD platform for one model does not make a lot of sense.
