Californians Could Get The Short End Of the Stick By Owning An Electric Car

Californians may end up paying the highest electricity rates in the country to charge their electric vehicles, a new study says.

The state's tiered rate system, in which customers are charged higher rates as they use more electricity, could make plug-in hybrid and battery-powered vehicles more costly to own, according to a Purdue University study.

This is only half of the equation. Look for California and other states to begin charging hybrid and electric car owner a tax to make up for the lost revenue in fuel tax. It's coming. Oregon has already begun the review process of a mileage tax on these vehicles.

So what is the point of owning this car if you were trying to safe money or on a tight budget? I guess it just another way to keep the U.S. a slave to oil company. Just when I thought were about to get a chance of being independent from big oil company and now we have this.

This is just the beginning. Energy costs will continue to rise due to government interference (more specifically, democrat interference). Remember what President Obama said in January of 2008.

"Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket."

(and if you're an Obama supporter who feels the need to deboost my comment, at least have the intellectual fortitude to offer a rebuttal.)
