Honda hopes that the 2012 Civic will reignite its sales
Honda Motor Co. is hoping that sales will be energized when the new version of its Civic small car (the ninth generation) starts selling this spring. In 2010, Honda’s sales have dropped and it has also lost its market share to rivals. Honda recently unveiled two concept versions of the upcoming Civic coupe and sedan that executives claim to be very similar to the production version of the vehicles that will appear in U.S. showrooms this spring as a 2012 model.

I have a 2007 Civic because they were the ,most powerful, economical, handled the best and also the safest and had the highest crash standards, the price was also the most expensive for a small car, I would consider a new one, I would hope that Honda improved the economy, power, and safety...Are they still on top? Some of the competition just isn't as safe, so I don't consider them in the same class for that reason.

Civic in Japan is already EOL due to poor sales. Honda may consider to bring newer models from Japan to here.

Hopefully the exterior and interior will match to the 2011 Hyundai Elantra. Hyundai needs to get a comp to the Civic Si.

I have a 06 Civic and continue to buy Civic in the future. Other car companies may have more bells and whistles like Cruze, or better mpg like '11 Elantra, or longevity like the Corolla, no small cars except for Mazda3 matches Civic's driving experience. Civic just handles superbly as well as the driver's seat is so ergonomically fit. I can sit in Civic for hours without any issues, but with other small cars, I've had issues with my lower back hurting with terrible ergonomics. Maybe the new '12 Focus will match Civic with the driving experience, then I'll consider any other car besides Civic. But from driving the new Fiesta, I don't have my hopes up for the Focus.

I would steer clear of the Cruze. Poor European sales and reviews speak for themselves

I would call this a conservative restyle. Take away the sill extensions and extended spoilers and you have basically the same shape with the same identifying language and Accord rear headlights. You can bet the production version will be toned down.In my eyes a dissappointment.
