AUTO SPIES WORLD EXCLUSIVE: BMW 5-series facelift information

If you're expecting a huge change on the facelifted BMW 5-series, you're in for a disappointment like the fans of the Mercedes E-Class were when they saw the new E-Class.

Headlight, tailight, and small lower fascia changes will happen on the outside and some small interior modifications are in store.

The biggest change will be in the engine department as the 335i motor will make its debut as a 535i.

There will also be some option package/pricing changes and new offerings like night vision.

Finally, look for a few color changes when the car is readied for the 07/07.5 timeframe.

I respect the BMW 5, but I am not in love with the styling. The back is not appealing and I especially dont like the "eyebrow" look of the headlights...I prefer a larger version of the 3 (which looks good...notice BMW didn't alter its styling much).

Sorry, but I not a fan of the 5 series. I think BMW is trying to hard with the styling of the 7 and 5. The butt on the 7 series was way too large (notice they did change that with the new model).

Looks okay... my gripe with the current 5'ers (and other BMWs) is that they have too many 'interesting' design tidbits all clamoring for attention and not always playing nicely together. Bangle's designers need a good editor.

The one single thing that ruins the front for me is the hood cut line running along the top edge of the grill. Just look at it and imagine the cut line was going down along the lamps and tucking under the grill in the center, like it does on the E39 5-series. Makes a huge difference in perceived quality.

The 7 series is an ugly car, the 5 series is o.k the X3 HORENDUS, the 3 series is o.k, the Z4 is O.k but I would never buy it and the X5 is just a classic SUV. Hoestly I don't feel much for the 5 series but their you go, would take the E- Class or the A6 before it.

Its okay. I would want a bit more of an update to headlights, but I think BMW really need to focus on their 5-Series models for the euro market. The 525 I think is useless because it cant compete against Mercedes E-Class base because the E-Class base is a 350. I think they should have the 525 and 530 scrapped and get a 535 in a normal engine and a twin-turbo engine. Then there should be a V8 545 and in the end upgrade the M5 to the 6.0l V12 in the 760i/Li
