Nissan claims to offer the only 100% electric vehicle being mass-marketed

Nissan Americas chairman Carlos Tavares wants to make one thing clear: Nissan North America is the only automaker that is mass-marketing a 100% electric vehicle. In response to the comparison between electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles, Nissan's top U.S. executive said at the 2011 Automotive News World Congress that some of Detroit's automakers are “muddling” communications by calling hybrids “electric.” This appears to be pointing a finger at its biggest rival General Motors Co. and its new plug-in hybrid, the Chevrolet Volt.
