This surpassed Mercedes' 586,146; however, Audi kept its No. 1 position with sales of 623,536 units.

Is this relevant news? Are we now dissecting individual markets, to draw attention from the big picture?

BMW leads globally followed by Mercedes, then Audi. They all grew at roughly 15% last year... so technically nothing really changed in the sales race in terms of ground being gained or lost.

I wonder what the sales numbers among the three would look like if you removed all the sales of the lower end cars (which really are not luxury at all) like the BMW 116, MB A/B class, or Audi A1

you would have to add the A3 in also if you include the 1 series..

then I guess the easiest way is to remove all 1 series, A class, B class, A1 and A3 from their total sales.
